patrick mahomes will start

https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2017/...s-broncos-2017

It’s official.

Rookie first-rounder Patrick Mahomes will start for the Chiefs against the Broncos this Sunday in Denver. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced the move during his usual Wednesday press conference.

“Every snap that he gets is a valuable snap for him whenever he has that chance of getting in there,” Reid said. “It’s invaluable and fortunately, we’re in a situation we can do that.”

The Chiefs are locked into the No. 4 seed on the AFC side of the postseason regardless of Sunday’s game outcome.

Reid added that Alex Smith will take the scout team reps this week.

“Fortunately we have a quarterback that understands it,” Reid said. “[Smith] is having a phenomenal year. It’s an MVP-caliber year, so he understands the situation and this won’t detour off of anything he’s doing the remainder of the season.”

Though Mahomes has yet to play, Reid said the season has given him an opportunity to get to know him, and Reid confirmed Wednesday all the scouting reports checked out.

“You hear what he’s all about but until the player is there, you really don’t know, I’m saying as a person,” he said. “He’s everything everybody said he was, a great person—works hard, loves playing—all those things, we’ve seen. Obviously, he hasn’t played in the game other than the preseason, but he’s done a great job of the other stuff.”

That changes Sunday.

What two Quarterbacks I can think of. Matt Blundon and Brodie Croyle. I mean count the number of retread quarterbacks we've started since 1987 and also playoff wins to be fair.

It's gonna be great to see Mahomes in there if Andy doesn't sit our playmakers. Even for one half would be awesome.

It's a tough start for Mahomes.

Unconfirmed but assumed no Ty Hill, no Kelce, No Hunt.

They still have a great defense on paper.

Coaching staff is possibly coaching for their jobs. Thin air. December game. Division Pride.

So he will be able to do this from 70 yards away then?

I just read the news that that Mahomes will start for the Chiefs on Sunday. Y'all must be in seventh heaven...

By Corey Masisak of the NY Post: "Chiefs make QB switch for suddenly intriguing Week 17"

Excerpt - December 27, 2017 | 2:07pm
Quote:
Smith has one year left on his contract, but Mahomes looked like a future star during training camp. He has not thrown a pass in the regular season, but went 34-for-54 for 390 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions during the preseason. Smith, meanwhile, has played at first tremendously, then poorly and recently adequately this season, throwing three touchdowns with an interception and 803 yards in the Chiefs’ last three games.

With the weather being fairly cold does not make it very conducive for passing let alone showing his arm off. Rain you are spot on about the 70/30 ratio of run to pass just for his safety and the weather and at best 60/40 IMHO.

Mahomes makes everyone better. Watch these 2nd stringers ball out. I was so hoping the temp would be in the high 40's low 50's but it doesn't look like it.

I will be watching the demeanor of the rest of the team to watch their excitement for him as he takes the field and all through the game. Starters that will be setting will be begging Andy to allow them to go in because Mahomes play is soooooo contagious.

I wonder if MyHomie 2 likes the air pressure in the ball to be a little less when it is cold ?

I don't like Mahomes being out there with bums. If Denver hurts him I will blow up and destroy all of Colorado.

Burn it all to the effing ground!
