Atlanta never had any defense. Despite the hype and their young talent they were complete $#it. They both scored almost at will. That's why they both made it...

This is really a tough question, by the way. I'd do a long-term build, not a win-now build.
Obviously, one guy will be a quarterback, and a good quarterback will play forever these days. So my QB can be as old as 28. I want a guy who's competitive and will play as long as possible, but also a guy with a big enough sample size that I can be confident that he's good. I'd think about Mariota, Wentz, Newton, Winston, Russell Wilson, etc., but I think the best bet is surprisingly Marcus Mariota. He's only 23 and I think he's on an upward arc, though there's a risk with a small sample size. I would barely take him over Russell Wilson as a safer pick or Winston, who impressed me this year. My second guy would be a running back or receiver. In the modern NFL I'd lean toward a receiver since you've got less injury risk and a longer career. So who's the best receiver under the age of 27 who's got a track record, can avoid injuries, and isn't mentally unstable? I don't really see a top-tier guy who meets all tests. I might prefer having a shorter career with a guy like Julio Jones if I don't want to take a chance on guy like Allen Robinson. Ezekiel Elliott is tempting, but I can get just as many years out of Jones. My third guy will be an edge rusher, but the current top guys are all flawed. Houston can't recover from the injury, Von Miller is an arrest/suspension risk, and Mack is overrated. Bosa intrigues me a lot, but he has no track record yet. Maybe I'd actually take Aaron Donald over all those guys. I'm not thrilled with my choices at all, which I think is a good thing for the NFL. We don't have any young players who are going to take over the league for the next two decades and continue the destruction of competitive balance.

I'm not, but he certainly is. Defending the honor of a Texas-owned, Missouri franchise that cares more about "respectability" and perception than doing what it takes to be a champion is certainly something to get worked-up about. |

JJ Watt Khalil Mack Tom Brady (Brady doesn't need studs. Any D with Watt and Mack would be scary) Past: Joe Montana Jerry Rice Jim Brown (Watt and Mack couldn't stop this offense)

If it's past, I'd go with: Joe Montana Don Hutson Reggie White Relative to his era, I think Don Hutson was easily the most dominating player ever. Plus, you could use him for 60 minutes.

An interesting article about Don Hutson for those of you who enjoy football history:
