Royals My Engagement just got broken off but the Royals are 6-0! - Page 9

So apparently its been building with her for a long time, but the final straw was that I wanted to watch the game today instead of going with her to some BBQ at one of her friends' house that I cant stand. Last night making her watch the game with me instead of our usual Sat night of watching movies might have had something to do with it as well.

No more than an hour after the game ended she came over and gave me her ring back and said "I cant do this anymore". I just stood there dumbfounded as I watched her walk to her car. Im sure its not just the baseball games, we've been fighting a lot the last few months about stupid shit but I guess this finally sent her over the edge.

I'm sure I'll be hurt by this tomorrow, but until then go Royals!

This. Relationships are a compromise. I've missed a couple of awesome golf tournaments that my buddies are in because my wife's side of the family has a couple of young girls that have dance recitals. Puke! But, I know that it's important to her. She watched with you, now you need to do something she wants to do. Could they not have had the game on tv or radio at the bbq? They may have, and now you'd be fine. I think it's all for the better for HER that she found out you are a trainwreck before marrying your selfish ass.

I'm sure it's been said, but if your relationship ended over a disagreement involving a Royals game, then it wasn't much of a relationship to begin with. The two of you should have been able to discuss the issue and find a way out of the situation in a mutually agreeable way. That you couldn't reveals the weakness in the relationship.

I liken this to the time my boss(now my mrs) sent out invites to the company Christmas party which read Food & Fun which also happened to be on a Sunday.I didn't RSVP and when asked why I told her Sunday was my NFL day.

The next day I got a new invite that said Food,Fun and Football and was like damn this is a heck of a woman.I later married her and am now coming upon 30 years and to this day she knows that Sundays during NFL are all mine.

Point being,had this girl done something like that for the BBQ I'd say she's a keeper.I'm sure there's other stuff going on but the way this played out with the info I have I'd have to say good riddance.

I know this won’t solve the going to a BBQ issue, but getting a 2nd TV has helped a few relationships in that I know of. Let her watch whatever and put the Royals on mute, neither of you will miss anything.
