Do you think the NFL is "rigged?"

Pretty simple question: Do you think the NFL is "rigged?"

Specifically, do you believe the NFL has a preferred outcome for games AND orders its officiating crews to make calls for/against teams for the purpose of achieving that preferred outcome?

When they said, "there are two fouls on the play", I assumed maybe there was a holding or illegal formation or something that I didn't see. When they called Verner for holding when he ended up on the ground, and then called Pollard for a personal foul when the ball bounced off Decker's hands and Pollard clearly made a shoulder to shoulder hit, I gave up.

My guess is the flag was thrown because of the items in the link.

It is a foul if a player initiates unnecessary contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture.
(2) A receiver attempting to catch a pass; or who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a runner. If the receiver/runner is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent, he is no longer a defenseless player;

Dunno, find the replay. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I don't recall.

Couple of drives later, and the chiefs are in easy field goal range, but down by 4. Game ends on downs. It sets up the Elway vs. Favre Superbowl, which is much better for ratings than Grbac/Favre.
That was also the game where the donks O-Line had cooking spray on their uniforms and the Tony G td in the endzone that was taken away.That game is a perfect example of what we're discussing.

That was only strike 1 & 2. Dont forget about strike 3 - the phantom holding call on the late FG where 3 points were taken off the board. Replays showed it was BS yet there was a flag & KC had to re-kick it from 10-yards further and missed. CRAZY events that day & the following week in Pittsburgh. But Elway did manage to get his first ring, so...

The Saints going to the Superbowl after Katrina was a MUCH bigger story than anything Favre could have done.

It was a bad call. Been happening since the game began, but now we get to review in slow-mo HD. What needs to change is to simply make them challengeable.

I knew it was rigged a few years ago after watching a Chargers vs Raiders game. Raiders were actually winning with only about a minute left. Chargers were driving. Rivers completes a 20 yd pass to a open receiver in the middle of the field. WR goes down untouched. No Raider within 7 yds. WR jumps up and spins the ball to celebrate. Raiders fall on ball and game should have been over. Instead, the Refs huddled and came back with "player didn't intend to fumble". So on the fly, they rewrote the rulebook so that if you are a doofus and celebrate at midfield, it's like a QB sliding or a returner taking a knee. NFL died to me that day.

If it was orchestrated, with the amount of ppl involved with refs, and then gms, coaches, player personnel etc it could never be hidden under wraps.

I don't know if we need to make them all challenge worthy - good lord that could give us 5 hour games. But, I am a fan of increasing the number of challenges a team could use in a game to maybe 6 total, without fear of losing a timeout.

Give them 6 challenges a game - they can use them whenever. I really doubt that would get abused, likely most would be saved up for late and you'd have much longer 4th quarters, but I'd like to see them with more freedom to challenge things.

No doubt and by now, you'd have at least a handful of people (GMs etc) that are out of the league lining up to be the deepthroat informant to expose the insanity.

Yes, some players or some positions get more leeway, but it's not by direction of some higher authority, it's just how it is sometimes. Doesn't make it right, but doesn't make it a conspiracy.
