Mayocks Official Mock Draft 4/29/2015

The only drafturbator I consider knowledgeable is dropping his mock tonight at 7 pm CST on NFL network

Mayock is usually pretty good and only does 1 mock a year the night before the draft. Enjoy!

Spoiler!

BS we will have all stated that there needs to be either someone drafted or FA signing for insurance.
You have to spend a 1st rounder on a C is what is getting complained about.

If the Chiefs trade down and pick up an extra second rounder, I'd be totally fine with Cam Erving. Of course, I'd expect two receivers - one of them being Tyler Lockett - to be drafted before the fourth round.

Erving at #30 isn't bad at all. Totally acceptable time to take the best player at his position in the draft. Other than K or P, of course. IMHO that's how the good teams stay so good - they don't have to draft the fourth best guy to fill need. Just let the good players fall to you and then there isn't positional value to consider, like there is at the top of the round.

Yeah, but that's dumb to combine both offensive and defensive linemen and then say, "DON'T THINK ANDY WON'T TAKE AN OFFENSIVE LINEMAN CUZ HE LOVES DOIN THAT SHIT, BUDDY!"

In his 14 years with the Eagles, Andy Reid drafted a whopping THREE offensive linemen in the first two rounds. One tackle (Shawn Andrews) and the abortion known as Danny Watkins were the 1st rounders.

It should be far more about the defensive linemen that people are talking about-- DTs specifically. In those same 14 years, he drafted five DEFENSIVE TACKLES (not including DEs) in the first two rounds. That's 5 picks for two positions high in the draft, and only one of them was a 2nd round pick (the infamous Trevor Laws). Compare that to 3 picks for FIVE positions.

Those 4 DEs he drafted in the first two rounds shouldn't count as fatties, either. In every sense, a 4-3 DE is a playmaker, not a fat guy that you need to stock up on 10-deep in order for them to have any value whatsoever to your team.

I'm all for drafting a center, just not with the 18th overall pick.

Also, Andy drafted 6 OL/DTs in the first round with the Eagles. Again, I'm not including DEs because they're not fatties.

He had 12 total first round picks.

So half of his first round picks went to the trenches. Only 1/6th of them were offensive linemen.

I think a far more apt description of Andy Reid's draft habits would be that he's a chip off the ol' Carl Peterson block-- he couldn't draft a DT if his life depended on it, but that never stopped him from drafting thousands of them, hoping he'd get at least one right.

Where's the bullshit line about Bill Belichick being a fatty ****er?

He's had 14 1st round picks with the Patriots. 6 of them have been OL/DT picks (Ty Warren counts as a fatty in a 3-4 scheme). That's not much better than Andy Reid's record.

In fact, Belichick is worse, because 3 of those picks have been OL instead of just 2.

You know why people claim Andy Reid loves drafting offensive line? Because the mother****er himself is fat. And that's ****ing stupid. Why aren't we claiming that Mike McCarthy and Jim Caldwell love drafting offensive line? They're fat, too!

This shit is ****ing bogus.

I doubt it since Erving will not be a center at the next level.

He's a very solid RT prospect with LT potential. However, he's only played OT two seasons and will be a project getting him up to NFL speed/defenses.

He doesn't come up quick enough and anchor like a center should.

He was basically forced to play the position this past season. You don't move a First Team All-American from LT to C on a whim. They needed help in the middle of their line and Erving was the good soldier and did it.

There are very decent centers in this draft and two OG's who I think have a lot of potential in moving over to the center spot in Louisville's John Miller and Georgia Tech's Shaq Mason.

But if you are drafting Cam Erving to be a plug and play at the Center position in the event that Eric Kush fails miserably in the pre-season and/or summer, you are going to be massively disappointed.

If we draft a center, any center, with our 1st round draft pick I'm going to be massively disappointed. Like go to the humane society, rescue a cat, drive it home, kick it, and drive it back disappointed.

I would have drafted Alex Mack in 2009.
