Anyone here doing the E-Cig / Vape thing?

Thanks to my vape, I've had only one single cigarette in the past 3 weeks. I have zero cravings for them and I feel considerably better. In fact, I still have about 5 smokes left in a pack and just can't see myself smoking those... don't want to.

Even better... 5ml of juice, which costs $5, lasts me about 2 weeks meaning that I am spending less in the long run. I only smoked, at most, a pack a week... but still.

I tried the Blu E-Cigs but they were terrible. Trying to "smoke" out of one of those was like trying to take a hit off a joint that was rolled WAY to tight.

I'm using an eGo-V v2 mega battery with variable voltage control with a gravity tank.

Started vaping a couple of years ago. Finally quit the cigs in March of '15.

I am currently using a Eleaf Melo2, ran by an Eleaf iStick TC60W. Also have a Joyetech Cubis tank that I just bought. Trying it out. Like the design.

My juice comes either from fogminion or opensourcevapor. (site won't allow me to post links?)

Buy juice from a local shop here, too.

Been on 0mgs for several months.

My new rig Noisy Cricket & Tugboat RDA.... Great setup
Noisy Cricket Mod by JayBo & Wismec

The Noisy Cricket Mod by Jaybo Designs and Wismec is literally the only mod you'll need, ever. Like its namesake, the Noisy Cricket packs a huge punch for its tiny frame. Unlike most box mods, the Noisy Cricket uses 18650s in series giving you more voltage compared to batteries running in parallel.

I'm ready to get into this a little more seriously. I bought a starter rig a couple years ago, used it a little, and then abandoned it when the tank kept leaking. I eventually bought a new tank, and while it doesn't leak, I keep having problems with the coil getting flooded with juice.

So I'd like to go ahead and get something better, but nothing ridiculously expensive or complicated as I know very little about this stuff. Suggestions?

So for a starter "mod" I would recommend the current iteration of the Innokin VV. I think it is up to 4th edition now. I'd pair that with a mini-Nautilus. Next up would be a mod with built in battery. I'd stay with Innokin and go with their MVP. Last I checked it is up to version 2.0 now and for that I'd grab an Aspire Atlantis tank. You could go with the Atlantis 2.0 or the Atlantis Mega. Next up would be a mod with removable batteries. I like Sigelei because their mods are sturdy, dependable and utilitarian. I use the Sigelei 100W+ and you can get one pretty cheap these days. I'd stick with that Atlantis because it functions well and atomizers are easy to get. There are mods (including Sigelei) that go well beyond 100 watts and/or offer Temperature Control. I find that I don't ever go anywhere near the limit of my device (100 watts) so I'm not interested in anything more powerful. If you are doing this to avoid smoking then you will probably have the same experience. I don't trust the materials in Temp Control atomizers. Most of them use nickel and I won't (possibly) introduce that into my vape for minimal gain in performance. So:

0) **** the e-cigs, they're shit.
1) Innokin VV 4.0 with a Mini Nautilus.
2) Innokin MVP 2.0 with an Aspire Atlantis (2.0 or Mega)
3) Sigelei 100w+ (you could go higher wattage but you probably won't use it) with that same tank (you'll need batteries and a charger).

After that you can get as goofy and as expensive as you want, but you aren't doing it to avoid smoking. You're doing it because you have a new hobby. I am using an original Aspire Atlantis with an addon that brings it up to 5 ml. I've seen one that will bring it to 7. If you're looking for a larger tank go with the new Aspire Atlantis Mega.
Since then I have switched to the Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC and I have a Horizon Arctic V8 tank. You could probably get this setup online for about $125 including a charger, some coils, and four batteries. Less than that if you find a sale.

To be honest, I'd get something with a removeable 18650. The cost difference isn't really significant, and when your battery eventually starts getting weak, which it will, you can buy a battery instead of a whole new mod.

I do agree the mini-nautilus is a great tank.

Here's one. Look around for the best prices, though. Also I would recommend the larger battery - the 1000 mAh one.

You will probably be able to find a kit that has the VV4 and some kind of tank included if you dig around a bit.

That is what I eventually did. I would only recommend the VV4.0 and a Mini-Nautilus for someone who is trying to get into vaping. Especially as a smoker replacement. It feels great in the hand.

It looks like there's a vape store near me that has all the stuff you are talking about, think I'm going to hit them up tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

No problem, and it might be a good idea for to use a local store at first until you get used to the equipment and terminology. Be warned that it will be more expensive doing that. I would suggest looking around online so that you get an idea of the prices of the various pieces of equipment so you don't get too badly ripped off.

Yeah being a n00b I'd like to have someone to complain to if I have problems and I don't have a problem paying a bit more for that.

What do you think about this set-up?

It is very similar to the first one I ever used, The Vision Spinner. It's a cheaper version of what the VV4.0 does.

Pros: It's cheaper. You get a nice tank with it. It's easy to use. It's better than an e-cig.

Cons: It lacks a decent and accurate control mechanism because there is a dial on the bottom that you turn for power. It only works in voltage mode, which doesn't control your vape experience as well as wattage mode. The charger has a proprietary connection so you can't use a standard USB charger with it. It's very round and smooth so you'll probably drop it. A lot. That's how I ****ed my Spinner. I don't know what battery company Aspire uses to make the base - most of these types of vapes will die on you after about 6 months even if you take care of it well.

If you plan on sticking with vaping over the long haul you'll want something else later. But at least you'll have the tank, which is a nice one. If that looks like a good amount of cash to you for getting into it then it's worth it. You can always get this and then upgrade later if you end up sticking with it.

So adjustable wattage is what I should look for?

My current one is round and smooth and I haven't had issues with dropping it, but I haven't had much sustained use with it because it keeps ****ing up on me. Initially I plan to use it mostly in my home and vehicles because I'm tired of everything I own smelling like smoke, not sure if I'll be dragging it around with me a lot. And if I do start using it that much I won't mind dropping more money on something better as it's still cheaper than buying real cigs.

I have found that varying wattage is much more satisfying than varying voltage. I think there is something inherently off because the battery changes voltage as it discharges and the vape, electronically, just can't maintain proper voltage. I'm not certain though. The VV4.0 does both wattage and voltage. I don't know how good the Aspire batteries are so I don't feel comfortable recommending them. Just for shits and giggles I made up a shopping cart to Sacramento
for a Spinner and what you would get in that kit - it only comes with 2 rather than 5 coils though:

So it looks to me like the quality would be about the same. The kit you linked is sort of a platform for Aspire to sell their tanks and coils. That's not a bad thing. They wanted a way to get their product out there. I did notice that the Spinner II is a 1600 mAh battery as opposed to the Aspire 1000 mAh battery. So the Spinner II has a 50%+ higher charge capacity.
