I saw the Turnpike Troubadours at Jax Sports Bar in Garden.
They were ****ing good. I mean ****ing GOOD. The sound production they had going wasn't spectacular, but damn these guys rock hard and put on a hell of a show. I was really impressed with how good of insturmentalists they all are. Most of their songs are pretty damn complex, not just a couple chords and they played it like it was nothing. This was probably my favorite performance of the night. It was damn impressive. Sounded excactly like the album, especially instrumentally. They were good at engaging the audience. They were well versed on the area. They had been at Southwest Country Fest in Ashland, so it's not like there's a lot of additional preparation they had to do, but they were spot on. And the lead singer was hilarious. Anyway, well worth the $25. |

The opening band was the Dom McClenny Band. He didn't have much out there. But here are a few of his songs.
http://www.reverbnation.com/dommcclennyband/songs None of this was accoustic, but I thought they (maybe it is just him and some other revolving door of dudes for the "band") did a nice job. I'd definitely see him again. I felt bad though. It seemed like nobody was paying attention during his show. Then they all went ballistic when Turnpike came out. They weren't as good, but they certainly weren't THAT much worse. |

I listened to most of the tribute album for Alabama. It was pretty decent overall. I'd recommend giving it a listen.
At the Troubadours concert we went to and did a really nice job. |

I had one thing in mind coming into this thread and then saw the Turnpike Troubadours love. So now I am just going to post my favorite TT song. I love twinge of bluegrass in this.

WTF Happened to this thread?
Anyway, I typically don't like rodeo music. This one is good. |
