Don't believe there's a dedicated thread, and since they're starting to release information now, I figure it's time for one.

I played the Jedi Knight in both the 11-11-11 test and the 11-25-11 test. Sentinel the first time and guardian the second. Got the Sent up to 21 and the Guardian up to 28.

Ran into a brick wall on Alderran with the level 28 guardian. Gold star elites that have to be tackled in class quest lines suck. Especially if you have to blow your 20 minute cool down to get through just 1 Elite. The only option I could see was to go back and find more quests to do to get to 29 or something but there were only a couple hours left and I was tired of Tattoine.

I can understand Boss mobs being hard and you have to think and plan on how you are going to kill that boss. Regular missions that move a story along shouldn't be so hard that I have to plan out how to take down 1 of the 5 to 8 Elites I have to face and then wait 20 minutes for my "i win maybe if I do everything else right by a sliver of health" button to be off cool down.

I haven't played the Republic side very much, saving that for launch, but there are elites all over the place on the Imperial side. They usually come right at the end of a planet's mission string.

I actually got my ship Sunday night on my Sniper at level 12, and did it by killing a level 15 elite in the Dark Temple. It took me a few tries, but I eventually got him down. I also had to kill an elite several levels above me in a class instance toward the end of Balmorra.

If the Republic side on Alderaan is anything like the imperial side, then I probably ended my second beta weekend right at the point that you did. This was me right as the server went down (I needed 5 more minutes...):

I did notice one thing this weekend, though: it appears that they've reduced the viable level gap between you and monsters. In that image you can see I'm fighting (and would have eventually beaten) an elite 5 levels above me. It was a challenge, and it seemed like the cutoff point was really 4 levels (meaning if it had been 30 or I had been 27, I would have been fine....). But this weekend they seemed to have narrowed the gap, and it was more along the lines or 3/4 levels, and 5 levels was impossible.

Now maybe that was just my perspective playing a Marauder, and it would have been different if I was still on an Inquisitor. But that's sure what it seemed like. And I know that the friend I was playing with - he was on an inquisitor - couldn't hit anything on Tatooine at level 21, against level 25 mobs.

Anyway, I think the elites at the end of class mission strings are fine. Come to think of it, as I recall I had to kill an Elite at the end of Nar Shaddaa on my Sith Marauder, too. To me, it's sort of like the boss fight at the end of a dungeon.

Hey, what is the best place to buy this right now?

I saw the thing about the ONE MILLION CREDITS up above and I want to make sure I'm not left out.

What edition do I need to get?

Not sure where the best play to buy would be. I think you only need the digital deluxe edition to get access to the VIP area, which is however only available through Origin. That's $80. Boxed-copy wise, you'd need the full collector's edition, which I'm assuming is still available somewhere, but that one will cost you $150. You do get a vendor with the Collector's edition that, at least at launch, you cannot access in any other way.

Official preorder page is here.

Would you say the extra $20 is worth it?

Honestly, don't know. We didn't have access to the VIP area this weekend, so I don't have any idea what's up there. Probably depends on how important the other preorder items are to you (Flare Gun, Training Droid, HoloDancer, HoloCam, Vehicle - all but the vehicle are social items I think).

you'd be taking a shot in the dark, we'd have a better idea if it was worth it a few weeks after launch. I pre-ordered the collector's edition box months ago (to be delivered in late Dec), but I'm a nerd who thinks the booklet of concept art and silly little trinkets might be kinda cool.

Not if you want to order it digitally. Origin-only that way.

However, Origin is not required to play, for what that's worth. So if you hate Origin, you can order a physical copy and skip using Origin altogether. I have an Origin account (I ordered the CE through them), but I've never even loaded the software. And actually, I would assume a digital order is the same way. You download the game through swtor.com.

Seems they are going the WoW route. There will be PVE servers and PVP servers. PVP is not free-for-all, you fight the other side.

On the PVE (and PVP) servers there will be a free-for-all zone, and some PVP battlegrounds where you are put in a team opposing the other team to achieve some kind of objective.

I have no clue whatsoever whether the PVP is any good or not, because I have no interest in PVP in MMORPG's. (except in EVE, where PVP is the whole point and the PVE stuff was just sort of slapped together, which is the reverse of what usually happens where the PVE content is the point of the game and the PVP stuff is slapped together)

In regards to the morality system, can you be a jedi that falls to the dark side or a sith that redeems themself? I'm wondering how you can be a jedi consular and go around being a total dick all the time without it breaking the story. That would be amazing if you could do it, although what would keep people from bouncing back and forth?
