You’d not just get the picks but you’d get the money saved from not paying him.

Can’t keep everyone and as good as ford has been, he’s had some pretty serious injury issues.

I don't really give a shit how it's done, but Veach better make getting another CB his #1 priority this offseason. I appreciate the fact that he got Kendall Fuller in the trade for Smith and coveted Kyle Fuller since he seems like the only free agent CB worth his contract, but he was an RFA and we didn't have a realistic shot at him. Use those talent evaluating skills in the draft, stop drafting fat DLinemen to be OLBs, and we just might get somewhere with this defense.

The corners this year haven’t been great but it’s the damn safeties and ILB that have killed them

Only reason I'm not TOO concerned about the safeties is we have guys like Lucas and Watts in our back pocket. There is at least something there to build upon. After this season it's basically Fuller and a bunch of scrubs besides possibly Ward at CB.

Give me the best QB and best pass rush in the league. Those are the 2 most valuable pieces to a roster.

Next year this team will be even better on paper. We’ll have money and an extra pick to help the secondary. Why would you make this team less talented?

Ward will be....solid. If you can find a legit #2 to pair with Fuller and keep Ward as your #3 I think you're in great shape.

I like what I see in the kid and think he can be a valuable piece.

Tempering my expectations until he does good against a team that isn't the Raiders, but he seems to stick to his man like glue and actually turns his ****ing head for the ball every once in a while.

He got victimized by Wilson twice against the Hawks when he was in GREAT position and did everything he could.

He mirrors guys well, isn't undersized and will hit guys. A little improvement in technique could see him developing into an adequate starter.

I won't expect that of him but as a 3rd corner I think he'll be a legitimate asset.

Eh. Even he admits he didn't do too terribly well against the Seahawks and was incredibly anxious due to the stage, and I can't blame him. He was only supposed to play outside CB when Fuller was in the nickel, but with him out he had to play virtually all the snaps. That baptism by fire seems to have done him good if his play against the Raiders is any indication.

I think Ward shows promise. I don't think you bank on him, I think you sign and draft CB's and should every year.

I still think Ford, while being a good pass rusher, is strictly a 3-4 edge rusher. I can see the smarts in staying 3-4 to utilize him and Houston while we have them. I do not think Speaks or Kpass are edge rushers; I think they're DE's.

But as a front, say, five, we rush the pass well, I can see wanting to work from that. Back 6 is shit and needs to be rebuilt and re-schemed. If we do another season of Berry being day-to-****ing-day I'm going to lose my shit. We need 2 safeties (Watts and Lucas are competition) and two corners (Literally the only ones I'd bring back are Fuller, Ward and Smith).

Good thing about Ward is if he develops into a passable starting CB we've got him for incredibly cheap until 2021 and then he's an RFA.

We need to keep both for as long as possible IMHO.
I have 2 big concerns with Ford. Dont get me wrong hes a hell of a pass rusher and that alone is worth alot but hes not exactly great at anything else and does have chronic back issues. What makes him great is that first step is do damn explosive if he loses that what else does he have? Maybe this year forced the Chiefs hand but prior to that looking at their high round picks (Kpass & Speaks) it's clear they've thought about moving on from him. Still a pass rusher can land you some nice draft picks.

Colts will be the team for us to beat next year when we're defending our World Championship.

I like Fuller more in the slot He was great in Washington love how athletic he is. Add a true #1 that's a hell of a secondary.
