I shop there every chance I get. I stop by every day to see what new inventory they have. I LOVE WALMART!

But, it is cheaper. I use local privately owned stores knowing that I pay more but at least i don't lose so much time.

Some things however are just required to visit Wal-Mart for.
Walmart is an automatic 15 minutes just to get in and out. I can literally go anywhere else and shave off that 15 minutes.

Walmart started a new concept called the neighborhood grocery store, this one opened last year about a mile from my house in The Villages. It has only groceries, it's only about 40,000 square feet, about twice the size of an Aldis. A block away is a Publix which is about 55,000 square feet and is exceptionally clean, great selection and has a lot of employees, cashiers and baggers, but you pay the price. I shop at the Walmart because it's clean and prices are much cheaper. The Publix is still busy because we have a lot of retired people who are loaded and don't care about saving. We also have an Aldis that opened just last March and a larger Publix about 5 miles away, a small Publix about 4 miles away, and a Winn Dixie 2 miles away but W/D has the worse prices and selection.

Well, they're new in Florida. I was surprised they built it because we have 3 super Walmarts all are exactly 9 miles from my house in different directions. Shopping isn't so bad when you can drive a golf cart to the store.

We've had a neighborhood market here for about 15 years and it's actually nastier than the standard Wal Mart that I normally go to.

Hell yes I do. The online ordering/pickup of groceries is quite handy. I don't agree or even like their politics on occasion but that doesn't get in my way of buying value. It's very similar to going to a movie that stars a liberal actor (most of them) and enjoying the plot and their talent. Yes, I'm a conservative if you hadn't guessed by now.

It's still open? Walmart shuttered a ton of these stores a while back. They weren't very successful overall.

This is probably why I haven't posted on here in a year, post the word "new concept" and in the midwest it's not new but common so therefore it must be common everywhere. The only thing common in Florida is Publix, Aldis and Winn Dixie, do you have any Winn Dixie's? How about Piggy Wiggly, we had a ton of them in Georgia, how about Giant, Maryland has over 250 Giants, how about Food Lion, go to the Carolinas you'll see a lot. Every region has different stores, all I was saying is Walmart has built Neighborhood stores in Florida for the first time. I only came on this board to wish the Chiefs luck in their game tonight against the Rams.

Actually I do hate the Redskins all my life being from Maryland. Yesterday I turned over to that game because I wanted the skins to beat Houston and the Titans to win the south, which was unusual for me because I never root for the skins. Besides with Philly and NY looking so bad, I rather have the skins win that division than the Cowboys, who I can't stand more. I saw the sack and it didn't look that bad, so I was surprised he didn't get up. I switched away before the replay. Hopefully Colt McCoy can pull out a few wins. Good Luck to the Chiefs, I think my Ravens would barely make a wildcard at best and I don't know how far they would even go if they did. I hope the Chiefs take it all, can't stand New England and hate Pittsburgh.

Why don't you blame the people who take jobs with the local Walmart instead of acting like they're victims? Walmart can't provide consumers with the low prices they prefer if no one will work for them.

What a bunch of nonsense. What killed mom and pop small town stores was mom and pop milking those folks dry.

In the 70s and 80s the company I work for was the on call engineering firm for Sam Walton's in house Architectural firm this region. We would do the design work the as a surveyor we would go in and construction stake everything being built those Walmarts.
The people we talked to were more than happy Walmart was coming to there nearby town. Mom and pop was ****ing them so bad and they would tell you about it. Open at 9 am closed at 4:30 pm not convenient for working folk. They would drive to the nearest big city to take advantage of prices and products no available to them in town and stockpile.

When Walmart came they got to lead a life that we take for granted living in a city or large town. I never heard many gripes when were laying these out. Hell I remember going into a Rexal to get aspirin for a headache from breathing flyash they were cutting into the soil for compaction. A 6 tablet tin of excedrin was 1.69 back in the 70s for crying out loud. That tin case wasnt worth a buck everywhere else in a City was charging .69 cents for. Badmouth Walmart all you want but they brought normal living to rural America.
