Movies and TV New Fall TV shows - Page 8

So are there any new shows that we should be checking out? From what I've seen so far, I'm interested in Flash Forward, Modern Family, Bored to Death (HBO) and Community.

"I'm from Denver. There's not a lot of Pho... there."

Yet another reason why Denver blows.

Anyway, this was the weakest episode yet -- the only weak episode of the series thus far. The jokes were funny on the whole, but the episode was off. Partly I think is because the Manny story was too sterotypical. I know that the charm of Modern Family so far has been to take rote sitcom scenarios and breathe new life into them through tight writing and good characters but this one was too one-note. Also, and especially, the pacing was akew. Way too many confessionals this episode.

It was clearly shown out of order, as it was the first day of school this epi but last week's had Luke and Manny in a fight at school.

Good catch. I completely missed that in my quick 1-2-3-4-5-6 watching.

Maybe ABC recognized that it was weaker than the other 5 and deliberately put it up against the World Series?

That little exchange is an example of a particularly delicious slice of humor. That one line demonstrated a guy who is simultaneously; twink, fey, snobbish, cosmopolitan-ish, and culturally insensitive in his own right.

We all know or have encountered someone like that, too; someone afraid of being culturally insensitive to the point where their precautions end up being insulting.

That might have been my favorite part of that scene also. This show is brilliant.

That's a good possibility. And it makes sense. I just rewatched it and it seems like the second half of a pilot or the second episode. The narration at the end seems to suggest that.
