Im pretty happy about this. Jenkins offered nothing aside from a would-be big play that ended with him surrendering a sure TD by running out of bounds of his own volition.

Avant knows the offense, and moreover, is pretty damned sure handed. Id really like to see what the details of his signing are, but I have to believe that this just made the offense better. Hell, he cant be any worse than AJ Jenkins at worst.

It would be great to have another receiver out on the field that could compliment Bowe, and perhaps even take some of the attention off of him. He should fit right into this offense and hopefully be able to contribute against the Broncos.

If anything it will be refreshing to see a WR that actually catches passes that Alex puts right on him.

Avant: Veteran wide receiver, played many years in the offense for Reid and made some huge catches despite his low average. Makes all the catches. One handers, scraping the ball off the turf, diving and digging low throws out, going up and coming down with contested passes, and a solid route runner.

Hammond: Just got off the practice squad. Desperation for bodies had to be the cause. Doesn't excel in any area.

Hemingway: 2nd year guy who has dropped so many wide open "gimme" passes that he's banished to special teams.

Jenkins: Has shown nothing since getting here. Made one would-be huge play, and killed it on his own by stepping out of bounds with nobody around him. Now on IR, likely future Ex-Chief.

Youre saying that an 8 year veteran of the NFL that knows the offense he's coming into, and has made highlight reel catches, is not going to be an improvement over a couple of really young scrubs and a fast guy who doesn't do anything.

I said the offense should be better. An offense that can stay on the field on third down and 6 with a guy who can catch, as opposed to a guy who drops a wide open pass, is a better offense.

You're just so wrapped up in your own butt hurt because you don't like the guy that you cant admit that he's better than Hammond, Hemingway, and Jenkins, when none of those guys have come close to doing anything this guy has done, which hasn't been much but being a dependable receiver who's going to do what he can to come up with the catch.

This is a guy they brought in to move the chains, catch short and intermediate passes, and maybe bring some young guys along.

Cam Newton and the Panthers are a dumpster fire. Its not hard to figure out why Avant wouldn't get much production with a 1 read and run QB.

Avery has the threat to stretch the field, though Alex will probably not pull the trigger. Avant could be Alex's new favorite target when Kelce isn't on the field. Short to intermediate, "safe" routes with an extremely high chance to complete the pass because the dude has great hands.
