Douche move on both the airline and the asshole passenger IMO.

Nobody really knows if he's a jerk, but if he's legitimately a doctor with patients to see, I could easily see him not wanting to get off. There's nothing douche about that.

Sounds like they can only do that if they've hit the comp floor. Which sounds like it should have been $1350? Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

As for the doctor, once he refused to get off, he got what he had coming. What choice did they have at that point other than forcibly removing him?

BY the way I got bumped by UNited on my way to Costa Rica last year for no reason. I will never fly them again if I have any other option.

And they legally have the right to physically remove you from your seat if they over booked their flight? Man, gonna look for that in the flight information next time.

There were other ways. There were other airlines who could have taken them. Or they could have driven or been shuttled over.
That's not even counting the obvious point about not doing this after everyone had boarded or not raising the comp for the entire plane when they knew the guy didn't want to leave.

The truth of the matter is that big corporations feel that they can do whatever they want and face no repercussions. To a great extent, that's true. It's why I like dealing with small businesses wherever I can.

Allow your employees to think for themselves and find a solution (pick one of many) that doesn't end with dragging a paying customer off your plane?

Having the legal right to do it doesn't make it the smart move. They are going to get bent over on this one.

I imagine jobs are going to be lost and the Dr will get a little money.

Yes I'm serious. If you're told to get off the plane, you get off. If they let him just say "no", what's keeps every other passenger from doing the same?

They handled it horribly at every turn, but that doesn't give a person the right to stay on board when they've been ordered off.
