I don't think it's as far fetched as you think. If Sonnen can kick Silva's ass for 4 1/2 rounds I'm sure Jones is capable. Will he? No clue, but he's the toughest challenge left for Silva although I'd love to see a Wiedman fight first.

I expected more creativity out of Nick grappling. He's done some wonderful standing kimuras that turn into scrambles (see the Sherk fight) but wasn't even remotely close in this fight.
I did lol IRL when he went for a gogo in the 4th IIRC(???). Should have pulled guard and tried it when he rocked GSP in the 3rd. Alas, Diaz got worked both standing and on the ground. I do think GSP has declined defensively on the feet in recent bouts. He's been wobbly in his past two fights (dropped via LHK from Condit). |

How do you think he handles Johnny? He seems like a horrible matchup for GSP. GSP jabbed the shit out of Koschek and kept his distance, I think he probably does the same thing against Johnny, but Koschek brought nothing on his feet like that Hendrix left.
That's why I love GSP. He's so versatile that he negates his opponents strengths in every fight. |

Johny closes distance better while being less versatile(has less tools) than Kos in regards to striking.
Johny's got better power as well. Being a southpaw helps too. The problem with Johny is how he closes the distance. He swings wildly and leaves himself wide open for a double. For Johny to win this fight, he'd be best served spamming TDs, trying to utilize clinch work when possible against the cage (especially to the body), and most importantly, working on landing his Straight Left as a counter to GSP's ILK. I'd be drilling that(^^^) over and over again if I were Hendricks. That, and work on getting off my back/creating scrambles. |

Hendricks' crazy, winging it all over the place striking...esp. to get to the inside won't work...GSP will pick that shit apart all day.
He's going to have to be much more technically crisp to stand a chance...it'll be interesting to see if he can do anything with GSP's TDs and from his back. I give him a puncher's chance but in the end I think GSP beats him. Actually believe Hendricks was lucky to win last night. Ellenburger, if he keeps improving, is intriguing to me. |

I actually think that Johny's wild swings have a higher percentage of landing big (with power) on GSP than traditional techniques due to the angles (They're pretty ****ing awkward and nobody GSP's fought/sparred in over 10 years throws punches like that. He's going to have to spar with some n00bs to get used to it ).
It won't matter though if GSP times a nice blast double when Hendricks throws a lead hook and nearly does a 180. |
