I see this QB situation escalating quickly. @ Pats vs Eagles @ Chargers vs Redskins @ Texans vs Steelers @ Raiders vs Broncos @ Cowboys bye week 10 That's an interesting home/road rotation with lots of tough matchups. I know the idea around here is that KC should be 3-1 and then likely 6-2 or 5-3 heading into Dallas. But, what if there's a stumble early? Those first 4 games are going to be very interesting, esp how KC plays @ NEP in week 1 and returns home for the Eagles.

My thoughts on QB's who sat/started
Sat and played well: 6 Palmer, Manning, Rivers, Rodgers, Smith, Cutler Sat and failed: 9 Grossman, Losman, Campbell, Russell, Quinn, Freeman, Locker, Ponder, Tebow Started and played well: 14 Roethlisberger, Ryan, Flacco, Newton, Dalton, Luck, Wilson, Bridgewater, Carr, Winston, Mariota, Stafford, Tannehill and maybe Sanchez. Started and failed: 8 Leftwich, Boller, Young, Leinart, Bradford, Gabbert, Weeden, Manuel. Started and Up in the air: Griffin (was it injury?), Bortles. I'm probably forgetting some players.

What the Chiefs do with Mahomes and when is really going to be interesting.
The dude threw the ball 1,164 times in the last two seasons, across 25 games --- nearly an average of 47 attempts per game. That's insane, so can he adjust quickly to a pro style balanced effort? Mahomes also had 130+ rushing attempts in each of the last 2 seasons...

And that's the riddle they have to solve... if KC is indeed a "SB team that is a QB away" as you put it, maybe it was someone else... but, if that's the case, is Mahomes the guy now.
They'll find out soon enough, but based on the history of those guys coming from that style of offense, he shouldn't be rushed into the role. Again, I don't think it was a bad move to go get him - if you have a guy targeted, you go make it happen. But, you have to be diligent and patient. KC fans have been QB starved for a while... I see the patience lasting about 3 games, if that.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad KC jumped up and got their guy so you all can have a healthy thirst quenching gulp after a long drought... but lamenting those 2 seconds after the last 4 season's of success just seems misplaced. Congrats again KC. I sincerely hope Mahomes turns out to be everything you've hoped for these long years. As for me, I'm hoping Smith can put it all together for 1 last shot at the whole thing before hangin' them up.

David Carr started and failed, although I blame the Texans for having the worst O-Line of all-time. David never had a chance. |

As for MHM's post above... I don't care when he goes in, I just want it to be when Reid and the staff believe he is ready. If that's day one, great. If that is 2018, great. We just have to make sure we get this right because the kid's potential is off the charts.
I think that is how most fans feel here. |

He likely go to a bottom barrel team next year. He's had multiple concussions, he has a family, anf he doesnt need football to make money. He's playing now only because he wants a ring. If he's traded away to a desperate team again, I doubt he'll want to take on the risks and start all over. That's just my guess of course.
