Christopher Nolan's next: 'Interstellar'
Script was written by his brother, and Spielberg was previously attached.

They just put in a new sound system and a new 70mm IMAX projector.

Engineers can't "guess" what Nolan is hearing in the Chinese Theater, then translate that to a Warner Brothers's soundstage that's completely different in size, treatment and speakers. Complete nonsense. |

Saw it Tues night. Definitely had sound issues. It was hard to hear the dialog at various points. Over all its a decent movie but I don't think I would classify it as spectacular. I was really looking forward to it because I'm such a science fiction nerd but like Promethius.....it was a let down. It has its moments but didn't quite do it for me.

What are you talking about? I mean they were making adjustments in the theater.

All I know is they have renovated it to meet IMAX standards for audio with custom built speakers and improved acoustics. It's also one of three theaters in LA to have the 15 perf 70mm projectors, which Nolan has been championing. (Arclight Hollywood is another one, but I've read some criticisms of how the screen handles it. Don't know if that's legit.) He also was personally at the theater and watched it about a dozen times from all different vantage points in the theater. I'm not going to pretend to have a fraction of your sound engineering expertise, but IMAX as a company and Nolan consider this the flagship of IMAX moviegoing in Los Angeles. Good enough for me.

But to suggest that the film was actually mixed at the CT is incorrect. Just to be clear, I'm not attempting to insult you or what you've heard, I'm just trying to clear up any misconceptions. Peace, Brotha. |

Aside from having figured out exactly where they were going with it about 20 minutes into the movie, I enjoyed it.
Plot holes? Yes, it's a ****ing movie. Deal with it. It's about the characters, not the shoddy science. Having seen it once, I probably won't ever see it again. Maybe I will. Kinda doubt it. It was too long, for sure. But it's worth watching, absolutely. |

I have loved some of Nolan's work. He is a talented filmmaker and Batman Begins alone basically gives him a lifetime pass with me. But the guy breaks his own rules all over the place to contrive his dramatic scenarios. This one was probably his worst. I just wish I didn't have to suspend my logic, let alone my disbelief when it came to his last several films. I enjoyed the film. It's visually impressive enough to recommend people see it in the theater, but it's plot keeps it from being great. That's all I'm saying. |
