I'm guessing he opened a couple of packets of Big League Chew simultaneously.

If Chip Kelly tells Baalke "This guy is not making this roster and I'm not going to play him", Baalke's only choice is to cut or trade that player.

Also, Kelly said that Acker didn't fit their system, which is odd (and probably bullshit) because their new DC is a Rex Ryan disciple.

I still can't believe we got this guy for a 2018 7th rd pick. The guy started all year and had 3 INT's and 65 tackles. Even in preseason this month Acker has 2 PD's and 1 INT. That's one hell of a deal.

Let's review the trades made this offseason.

SF trades for our 1st and takes a G. We get Chris Jones and Parker Ehinger, who looks like he could be a decent G as a rookie.
Chiefs trade back with TB who took a kicker who is now seeking help bc he's sucked and has no confidence.
Also with everything going on, Kaepernick has been a dumpster fire ever since we got Alex.

Goddamn Dorsey is a good GM.

Best one in my lifetime, hands down... we're incredibly fortunate

Everything that guy does has a purpose and well thought out method behind it

He is old school, dyed in the wool "build through the draft"... but with the added bonus of never shying away from jumping into the FA pool if it suits his needs and vision

Yeah, but he's never been executive of the decade.

Sure, but that's how the Jaye Howard's of the world get cut too soon.

Russell is worth giving a little time. The talent's there, the experience isn't. Nobody would argue that the NFL is a 'snapshot' meritocracy. Guys get kept over guys that are immediately outplaying them all the time and more often than not, it's the smart play.

Fred Williams outplayed the shit out of last year's 3rd round WR...pretty good thing we didn't let that guy go.

They don't all hit the ground running.

Kid's tenacious as hell; plays with that 'late round' edge to his game. He's not ****ing around when he makes those tackles - he's laying the body. Combine that with his special teams reputation and you see a very hard-nosed defensive back.

An interesting thing to see was the interception return against the Ravens. He takes that ball right into traffic and into the valley of the giants where there are a bunch of guys that outweight him by 100 lbs. Rather than trying to juke and skip around to avoid contact, he sees things close up, puts his shoulder down and charges forward. That tells me the kid isn't afraid of contact and is not going to have a problem at all getting his nose dirty.

Love seeing that edge and that confidence.

Nice pickup at essentially no cost. Good move, Dorsey.

Jaye Howard was cut because the Seahawks were loaded on the defensive line, so I think it's a little different.

The point was that the NFL isn't a true meritocracy because guys that are drafted higher are generally given more time to prove their worth, as opposed to UDFA's or low rounders.

I still think the point stands: Had Russell and White's draft positions been swapped, Russell would end up on the PS. He's been running with the 3's and 4's and hasn't shown much, if anything, against the lessor competition.

At this point, I'd rather see him end up on IR because the Chiefs can't afford to waste a CB position this year, IMO.

If nothing else we can play him at WR.

He already high-points and catches better than Albert Wilson.
