With the 220nd pick in the 2016 CP Mock Draft,
The Denver Broncos select Derek Watt, FB Wisconsin. Gary Kubiak said he wants to add a fullback to the roster this year, and that "there are a lot of them in the draft" this year. Watt has good athleticism and bloodlines, and is a high quality receiver out of the backfield for the position. Last edited by CleveSteve; 04-10-2016 at 09:32 PM.. |

With the 224th pick in the 2016 CP Mock Draft,
The Cleveland Browns select Trevon Stewart, DB Houston. The Browns are starting fresh at safety with the departures of Donte Whitner and Tashaun Gipson, so adding a playmaker like Stewart is a coup for the Browns in the 7th round. Stewart is less noted than his defensive backfield mate William Jackson, but has been the defensive leader the past two years and was team captain as a junior. The instinctive Stewart has done a bit of everything for the Cougars the past few seasons, whether asked to make volume tackles (110 tackles as a freshman earning Freshman first team AP All American honors as a safety), turning the ball over (1st All-time in Houston Cougar history with 10 fumble recoveries, 7th all-time in interceptions with 12), or to stack the line and make plays in the backfield (10.5 TFLs, 6 sacks as a senior from the safety & nickel positions) and was an impact player in whatever role they needed him to play. Stewart will compete for the starting free safety job with holdover Jordan Poyer and offseason signee Rahim Moore and can contribute in sub packages as well. With their final pick, the San Diego Chargers take a chance on an undersized playmaker with a real chance at getting carries in an NFL backfield immediately. Undersized, but a smart runner with a impressive acceleration. Like what I've seen out of him in highlights (because my list ran out an entire round ago)
The San Diego Chargers select Tyler Ervin, RB, San Jose State |

brucey_72 sent me two picks for the last round. He picked one at Seattle's last pick and his second guy is still available. I'm going to go ahead and assume he wants that guy.
Seattle selects Dean Lowry, DL, Northwestern |

I'm... optimistic, yet also realistic about this draft. Really happy about a few of these picks, but was admittedly throwing ****ing darts with the last two rounds. Average draft for the Chargers, I'd say. Ramsey, Spriggs, and Hall are my best picks.
San Diego Chargers 1.3- Jalen Ramsey, DB, Florida State 2.35- Jason Spriggs, OT, Indiana 3.66- Christian Hackenberg, QB, Penn State 4.103- Charles Tapper, DE, Oklahoma 5.176- Delondre Hall, CB, Northern Iowa 6.180- Adam Gotsis, DL, Georgia Tech 6.199- De'Runnya Wilson, WR, Mississippi State 7.225- Tyler Ervin, RB, San Jose State |

With the 229th pick in the 2016 CP Mock Draft,
The Denver Broncos select Brandon Allen, QB Arkansas. It's no secret the Broncos are hurting at quarterback after the departures of Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler. They signed Mark Sanchez, which helps, but Sanchez isn't a transcendent QB who will lift the team back to a playoff run on his own. That being said, by the time the Broncos picked in this draft, there weren't any major QB talents ready to step in immediately and help the Broncos compete for a Super Bowl. Still, they need to add someone who can back Sanchez up and not embarrass himself with the under center, play-action style that Kubiak prefers his quarterbacks to run. It helps that Allen is athletic and can accurately make his passes on the run as well, even if his arm is not the strongest. What the Broncos need in a backup quarterback in their championship window is someone who can be ready to play without a large volume of practice reps in a pro style offense, and Allen's experience at Arkansas makes him as qualified a candidate as any outside the top ten picks in the draft. He might make the occasional bad decision, but he will be able to run the offense and can use his feet to make a play when needed. Last edited by CleveSteve; 04-10-2016 at 09:56 PM.. |
