Batman sequel 'Rises' again

LOS ANGELES - THE next Batman sequel has a title: The Dark Knight Rises. Distributor Warner Bros. confirmed the name for director Christopher Nolan's third adventure about the DC Comics vigilante hero, which follows Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008.

The Dark Knight Rises is due in theaters July 20, 2012. Bucking Hollywood's current wave of 3-D movies, Nolan is not planning to shoot the film in 3-D.

Warner Bros had agreed with Nolan's argument that the sequel should resist the 3-D craze, the director told the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex blog, which first reported the title.

Nolan would not reveal what villain might appear in The Dark Knight Rises, but he said it would not be the Riddler, one of the key bad guys in the comics and past film and TV Batman tales.

Earlier this year, Nolan said he would not resurrect the Joker, the cackling villain played by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Ledger won the supporting-actor Academy Award for the role, a year after he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. -- AP

oh, another thing.....WB still had its "Gangster Squad" trailer attached in my viewing.....they are probably going to have to pull this thing. Its got a clip in there of dudes with Tommy Guns shooting up a movie theater audience. Bad timing right now....

I commented last week about the compactness of the scenes. After a few viewings, I just realized something else: Nolan accomplishes this by "foreshadowing" many of the scenes with audio. For example, you'll be looking at Bruce Wayne, and hear the Commissioner (who isn't in that scene at all) talk, and the next scene is the Commissioner. It's an interesting editing tactic that I don't recall seeing anywhere else but with Nolan.

If they can successfully reboot Superman the JL film becomes ten times more compelling.

This movie hit me personally. I def. could relate to some of those scenes esp over this past year. I could relate alot to Wayne and see some of myself in a way.

It was everything and more for me. Can't wait to see it again.

I've avoided this thread for pretty much 6 months because I didn't want to see any spoilers... but I finally saw it this afternoon. Epic, epic piece of work.

This has nothing to do with batman, but tactics used by nolan within his films. During Inception there was that french song that was used to prep them for the "kick". The main deep trumpeting sound that Inception is known for is actually that song slowed down depending on the depth of the dream they are current in. I might need to find an audio clip of it to explain what I mean, but part of what makes Nolan such a great director is the score of his movies and his ability to utilize audio with visuals.

This movie is mind blowing and completely phenomenal. I thought it was quite a bit better than TDK. Got to be the only trilogy where every movie has gotten better. I never thought this movie would end so beautifully.

I felt this way after the first viewing, but even more so after the second:

I hope like hell (but seriously doubt) that the BluRay has the full 3:30 original cut included.

I can't get over how perfect everything about this movie was. I'm hoping Superman ( because he's my favorite superhero) has a bad ass trilogy like these.
