On to Talladega next week - Good place to take out 3/4 of the field. Four will be done in the Chase in Dega.

If he doesn't, he deserves what happened today. Lord knows the 22 is counting on him not responding in kind. |

After seeing what happened today, Mike Helton better check and see if the 20 isn't sporting a push-bar next week. As long as "obvious" is too little and "nobody admitted to anything" means it's OK and are the way things work, all the 20 has to do is not say anything after he picks the leaders off one at a time.

And NASCAR better not grow a conscience this week and decide they can suddenly read a driver's mind when the 4 (and some others) arrive nose-first in the wall because of an accident. I'm not saying NASCAR has an easy task on their hands, but at this point it's pretty clear that drivers are in the business to win and make money, and many will do whatever is needed to create and preserve the opportunity when the decisions become rather binary relative to moving on and/or winning. So it's not OK, and minimally they have to ensure nothing changes in terms of the setting-of-the-bar in terms of suspicion vs. penalty. |

One must wonder if NASCAR can find enough evidence to prove Harvick caused the wreck on purpose. It must respond. The response should follow the precedent set. Ryan Newman admitted he wrecked Kyle Larson to advance last year. Anything goes is the business model. I argued against this last season and heard the "it's hard-nosed racing" response. Now it is there for the whole world to see. The drivers are in a situation where racing clean is penalized and advancing at any cost is rewarded. Reality check time. Harvick moved out of the way the first time that was incredibly stupid. The 2nd time he claims he was going to do the same and did not see the 6 car. If true, that was incredibly stupid also. To get out of the way would have allowed the entire pack to pass him in a few seconds that would have eliminated from the chase costing his team millions. NASCAR has set this up to create controversy, wrecks, and excitement. Getting mad at the drivers is silly. They are playing by the rules~

That's why I expect this weekend to play-out the same exact way. Nobody say anything in advance (winks and handshakes!), don't sy anything (or even smile) in the driver's meeting before the race, put him in the wall, and then just say "ooops" when the deed is done (and for eternity). The 4 will be angry, but **** the 4, he's an asshole! Let's just hope somebody does it and Mike Helton is forced to say the same thing next week as he did this week! **** him too! |
