The Orioles, Rangers, and Padres are still among the bidders for Braves outfielder Justin Upton, tweets Jon Morosi of FOX Sports. All three clubs have a need for a powerful outfielder, so it will be interesting to see where the bidding goes. It’s unclear if the Braves are targeting a specific position in return.

It's also better than relying on Carlos Peguero.

Holy trades gone wrong...
Two years ago, Kevin Towers trading top 10 prospect RHP Trevor Bauer for middling (glove-first, light stick) SS Didi Gregorius. Towers referenced seeing Didi (who is from the Netherlands) "play in HS" at the time of the trade. Gregorius now holds a lifetime .243/.313/.366 lifetime slash (an OPS inflated by hitting 8th most of the time and drawing a lot of walks that way). Meanwhile, Bauer has struggled a bit for the Indians but showed flashes in 2014 of living up to his potential, missing a ton of bats while greatly improving his BB rate. Last season, the Tigers traded Doug Fister to the Nats for LHPs Robbie Ray and Ian Krol. GM Dave Dombrowski spoke in glowing terms about Ray, a starting pitcher, especially, giving the impression his staff thought Ray was underrated. Krol was supposed to be an important LH piece of the rebuilt Detroit bullpen. Then the season happens, and it turns out that Ray actually was NOT underrated at all (and perhaps even overrated, as lefties with straight fastballs and no secondary pitches aren't that successful against high-level pro players) and Krol was actually pretty terrible. Now, the Tigers and D-Backs pull a three way trade. Detroit gets back-end starter Shane Greene from the Yankees, the Yankees get Gregorius, and the D-Backs get Ray. So, essentially, the Tigers have ended up trading Doug Fister (who had a great year for the Nats) for Shane Greene (and Ian Krol, yay?), and the D-Backs ended up trading a top 10 SP prospect for a not-ranked SP prospect. Greene is not bad. He strikes out guys, but he also gives up a lot of hits. I'm sure Dombrowski thinks Greene is going to be a star, but he thought that same about Ray just a year ago.

This writer was bored and though he would spin a little of his nonsense.
http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-...tions-for-2015 Picked the Royals 3rd in the division ? I can see possibly Cleveland at one, KC 2 and Detroit 3. Premature with the off season still is moving status. |

Total Royals shit show trying to buy season tickets this morning. In years past, you got to go out to the K and a physically select your seats. Now you're given a time to go into the website to choose your plan and seats. Volume error messages galore, just like playoff tickets purchases and when I finally get in, every seat I select says it's unavailable by the time I get to checkout.
I guess it's good that there's that high of ST volume, but I ultimately said **** it and gave up. |

New. Good luck. I have a feeling the seats I'm selecting are available and there is some sort of system error as it looks like the selection/payment process is outsourced to another site.

If it's new, just call them up. I'm in a really weird situation where I'm a past STH, but I'm splitting my account off from someone elses that I shared with so I was technically a new STH today, and I go in next week to see if there's anything better available to renewal STH. Call them up and talk to them, way easier.

It's kind of strange that KC has sat back and waited this year to make moves, after striking so quickly in years past. I think Moore is adapting his approach in FA a little bit. They were never going to be in on the huge money acquisitions (outside of Tomas, I think that was a thing that really had legs), but they're better positioned to work in the second tier of free agency. I would like to see KC get involved in the Moss negotiations, though. I know Hootie was talking about him being protected from lefties in Oakland, but he still was able to produce a .736 OPS with 10 HR in 225 ABs against lefties over his three years in Oakland. They're still sitting him against the toughest lefties, which is smart and would be best replicated, but Moss would still be a ncie addition. It also would keep Cleveland from acquiring ANOTHER dangerous hitter (imagine all those David Murphy ABs this year went to Moss instead. Not great). The A's are also not asking much for Moss. The rumored primary piece of the deal is a 2B prospect, Joey Wendle, who is not a top 100 guy. Just seems like something to get in the middle of, IMO.
