Malaysia Airlines loses contact with plane carrying 239 people

Malaysia Airlines says it has lost contact with a plane with 239 aboard enroute from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

The airline said in a statement early Saturday it was attempting to locate the Boeing 777 after it lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control at 2:40 a.m. It was scheduled to land in Beijing at 6:30 a.m.

China's state-run news agency Xinhua reported the plane was lost in airspace controlled by Vietnam, and did not make contact with Chinese air traffic controllers.

The plane is carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members. The airline said it is working with authorities to locate the plane.

Boeing said on its Twitter account it is monitoring the situation, and "our thoughts are with everyone on board."

14. Tipping could go a long way - My girlfriend is a flight attendant. NO ONE tips flight attendants. If you give your FA a fiver with your first drink you’ll probably drink for free the rest of the flight.
So tip a flight attendant 10% of a drink? Seems a little low to me.

I guess it could pay off if there's an emergency. I'd gladly tip if it meant being the first one off of a burning airplane.

I don't know which would be worse burning or falling. Probably burning but damned that's a long way up and would probably take an eternity to fall. Seems like the best case scenario would be to fall and either black out, go into shock or have a heart attack quickly.

Id just enjoy the ride down. You're obviously going to die and you know you will, might as well enjoy it.

Take off your pants mid air or something.

Just don't break apart.

If my kids weren't with me I think id reach acceptance in a heartbeat and would maybe feel a rush of morbid excitement for what happens next. If my kids were with me I'd be looking for the easiest people to trample until we're outside.

I think a person could rig a rudimentary parachute out of their pants if they can sew quickly enough.

I could break a window out with some of my obnoxiously blinged out belts. Or at the very least they would help with my trampling.

Look, I don't claim to know what it's like to lose a family member in a plane crash. But what are all of these family members freaking out about, if they find the plane or not. The plane and everybody in it are effing dead, the plane is somewhere on the bottom of the ocean. Do you really want to go on a 14-hour flight to find out what you ultimately already know?

The worst part about this whole deal, is all the completely reeruned conspiracy theorists. I was talkin' to a dude at the casino last night, who was convinced, I mean convinced, that the "illuminati" (fictitious bullshit order of celebrities and shit who control the world) took the plane down and have all of the passengers kidnapped.

We were watching the news tonight showing all the Asians just freaking out after hearing the news (I realize everyone handles it differently) then they show the brother of the American in Texas standing outside his home talking to the media nice, calm, cool and collected. I just looked at my wife and said, or you could act like that.
I don't know all the #'s of media, cameras and lights just seem to add to all the people screaming, crying and kicking. Wow! What a mess.

I mean, some people could hope and then have it finally crash when its confirmed but it would suck to be like, yeah well my son or daughter is somewhere in the ocean, ahh **** it lets just have an empty casket funeral no need to fly out. No place to visit them when they're gone. It's pretty easy to say shit when it isn't your own family or loved one on what you would or wouldn't do.

I don't blame those people for being upset when they got the confirmation, calm or not.
