Restaurants of yesteryear
What Restaurants did you grow up around? I'm not talking super fancy and yes fast-food counts. What distinctive memories do you associate with them?

Mine?

Taco Via-(the lit up menu of the various taco plates displayed on the wall), WhiteCastle-On a paper plate with fries and Pepsi, Arthur Treachers(off Noland), Tippins(off Noland), Perkins(the free toy well), Country Deli(awesome local deli to Blue Springs heated sandwiches on Sourdough buns), Zarda BBQ and Dairy, FunHouse Pizza(of Course)(Dark. Video- Games,Electonic Riding Bull and 25-cent Taco night) Annes Sante Fe.

Keep in mind I never see these anymore living in Georgia.

The food then - there - was like an entirely different establishment than what it is today - they really pulled the wool over the millennial's eyes. Not that that's a hard thing to do.

I'm joking about that last part.

but yeah - to do that; and still have success - it's all about those Yum! Brands dollar, dollar bills for advertising. They don't have to rely on actual quality and completeness.

I worked at Taco Bell in the early 90's. The beans were powdered. You just put the powdered mix in a stainless vat, and added hot water. The beef came in frozen pre-cooked bags. You would just drop the bag into a boiling vat of hot water until it was 'cooked'

Yep - by then, they had become a corporate entity....I was talking about the middle 70s - when they first got started...The "Beef" analogy is correct. I have (in the past) looked at their version of "beef"......looks more like paste than anything else. I stopped in at a Taco Bell (a couple of years ago) to give their breakfast taco a try. Why not? Before I had gotten past the drive thru - I had thrown the nasty thing out the window.

Haven't eaten at one since and don't plan on ever going to another....

Sams club used to carry a product like this but not that brand. I would buy a smaller bottle if I could find. Make Kraft style Mac and cheese. It the only type kids eat. you can slave over fancy m&c and they wont touch it ive found.

And of course I had no problems with it on In a Tub tacos but there pocket burger uses sauce.
