Chiefs among 13 teams present to watch Manziel throw at San Diego's pro day

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2...fl-teams-watch

Quote:
SAN DIEGO -- Johnny Manziel has to show that he is a changed man.

That process continued Thursday when the former Cleveland Browns quarterback threw to receivers at the University of San Diego's pro day.

Scouts from 13 NFL teams were on hand to watch Manziel throw. The Browns, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were represented.

...
The search for a 3rd QB is on?

Hell... Bring him in at a cheap one or two year deal. If he truly turned around and Mahomes is everything I think he will be, then trade him and get draft compensation for giving him a second chance.

He isn't worth a squirt of piss, even if he somehow manages to keep his head out of a bag of coke for a few months.

Bray was a multi-year project that netted us jack-shit in the end. Picking up Manziel in that capacity has a FAR better chance of developing something we could actually USE, be it a back up or trade capital.

How many guys, at any position, leave the NFL for several seasons, only to return as competent players?

Never said the odds were good, just that Manziel has more talent at the position than Tyler Bray. And if the Chiefs sent somebody to observe, I don't believe they were there to collect jokes and innuendoes for the Tuesday morning Krispy Kreme get-together.

The Chiefs head coach lives on the edge of cliff in Malibu overlooking the Pacific Ocean during the off-season.

And while I can’t speak for him directly, I think there’s a pretty good chance that he likes donuts.

The juice isn't worth the squeeze when it comes to Manziel- the media circus that would follow Manziel around is just too much of a distraction. Additionally I don't know how much value you can pump into Manziel when essentially he would be a QB3 on our roster- anyone actually going to give you draft picks back for a QB that would only see the field in preseason?

If Manziel truly wanted to be back in the NFL I think his best bet would be the CFL and not the Spring League. I want to see how Manziel handles media scrutiny on a lesser level, seeing if he can stay out of trouble for a full season. At the CFL level he would be the face of a franchise for a full year, in my opinion that would go a long way of restoring his credibility.

The Spring League offers him an instant opportunity to go to camp with an NFL team this summer.

The CFL does not.

My point is that I think most people can agree that Manziel always had the talent to be a Quarterback in the NFL, it's the off field antics that ultimately scared teams away.

If he performs well in the Spring League does that propel him into a second opportunity? He could play perfect but the question still remains if Manziel is going to act accordingly off the field. I think a full season of being the face of a franchise (albeit a Canadian one) would show me much more in regards to his maturity, and would give me a better idea that Manziel has truly turned the page and is ready to take his career seriously.

Just look at that coke nose

I can't see the Chiefs signing him, but i'd be on board BECAUSE of the circus. Football is entertainment, and Johnny either crashing or succeeding will be entertaining.
