Which three players in the NFL would you build a franchise around?

You can pick any three players currently in the NFL. Salary Cap space not being an issue, who would you choose?

I'd be in win now mode, and I'd go with Aaron Rodgers, Julio Jones, and Von Miller.

Brady, Julio Jones, Le'Veon Bell.

If this SB means anything defense clearly doesn't mean shit in today's NFL...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Julio is a beast, but I don't get why so many people are listing him as a player to build around. Even the best receivers only get targeted around 8-10 times per game. True franchise quarterbacks can make do with no-names at WR, anyway. See: what Rodgers did with Geronimo Allison, what Rivers did with Tyrell Williams, and what Brady did with Chris Hogan. Elite wide receivers don't strike me as players to build a team around. If you had to pick three players to start a team with, I don't see how you don't get an elite QB and use the other two slots to build a dominant defense.

You keep saying that ...

Andy Luck lost a division this year featuring Houston, Tennessee and Jacksonville.

At some point, enough is enough. I see him miss so many easy passes. I think he's a decent enough QB I just think he's amazingly overhyped.

Re-draft, I take Wilson 1 and Luck 2. I am sick of your hypotheticals surrounding the idea of "put Luck in Seattle!!!"

...because when I used to say, "put Peyton in New England ..." how did your respond?

I'd build long term - qb, lt and a defensive playmaker.

QB I'd choose between Wilson, Carr and maybe Luck or Marriota.
LT , Smith or Williams.
D - Mack or Donald.

Luck threw 3 INTs against us and won a playoff game. That's close enough for me.

At some point people have to start holding Luck accountable.

What? The Patriots defense held Atlanta to 21 points that game, which was a huge key to winning. They looked shaky at times, but Atlanta got 7 on the pick six, and went 1 for 8 on third downs.

Sure, the Falcons play-calling was bad at times, but the defense had to step up and make the stops when they did or they were dead. The strip sack, the sack and then forcing the holding call to take them back out of field goal range, the stop at the very end of the game to force overtime. I mean...

I hate agreeing with you, but I agree with you.

I'd go Rodgers with two defensive studs. Probably some combo of Miller/Mack/Kuechly/Watt assuming Kuechly doesn't have a concussion issue.

Why not just go Aaron/Russell/Luck (your pick) and Miller + Mack?

**** it, right?

...no doubt in my mind a Miller or Mack (or healthy Houston) or any elite pass rusher is the 2nd most valuable piece to your team outside a Brady or Rodgers or whatever

I'd say a Willie Roaf or Tyron Smith is equal to a Von Miller ... but you have to be just, super dominant. I'm not talking like Joe Thomas (who is very, very good ... but probably not hall of fame caliber). I'm talking Willie Roaf, HOF caliber LT.
