Seahawks WR Jermaine Kearse will hit the market.

I always liked this guy as a #2 WR.

Thoughts?

I can't see a team pony up much more than that for Benjamin but good for him if he gets it.
Sanders resume wasn't that much better, a 600 yard and 700 yard season compared to Benjamins one 900 yard season with the leagues crappiest QB situation. Also, there was questions about Sanders foot when he was a FA.

I just think it's a buyers market, there's not many good WR FAs, and there a bunch of teams with tons of cap space to spend, he's the best of the a bad crop really. Someone has to get overpaid at every position because there are a bunch of bad teams devoid of talent/depth with money to literally give away.

vimeo.com/11883171 grab him now at a fair deal, he'll have better stats heanyways. I like the way he fights for a first down and anything you throw his way. He'd fit in nicely with Maclin and Kelce... Wilson as the #3 WR.

I don't see how Benjamin is a good fit for us... He makes at least half of his yards on deep balls, and unless Andy is ready to completely change his offense then that makes zero sense in our system.

Sanders had four seasons with decent numbers in which he actually improved on a very good team.

Benjamin had one good year out of four on a completely shit team.

If someone pays him in excess of $6 million per, good for him.

But I don't see it, especially for a 5'10, 172 pounder.

I agree. Benjamin is 3 for 12 probably. Kearse probably 4 for 16.

darrius heyward bey might be someone to look at.... he kind of resurrected his career in Pittsburgh, is a vet with size and some speed but wasn't a star for steelers so he wouldn't command a lot of money

I wouldn't think him to be a good fit.. unreliable routes and hands. He's probably a better fit for teams/QBs that like to backyard ball and chuck it up.

I would hope/think that Conley would fill the #2 position next year and move Wilson to the slot. But, I would want Chiefs to draft a small, speedy WR that could play the slot and also help out with punt returns. Wilson can be improved upon.

Meh. He's not particularly tall, not fast, really nothing special about him. Just looks like a smart guy who's a product of the Hawks system. Really don't think he'll fit here at all. Pass.

At this point I'd be complacent giving Sanu 3.5 mil a year and keeping Conley/Wilson in the lineup. With James O Shaugnessy(?) returning that's plenty of places to throw the ball around. Especially when you have 3 running backs next season that create <7 mil in cap hits.

Patch up the o-line and find a #2-3 receiver. This offense will be sensational.

I was thinking he gets 4 or 5 million per. I thought that would be too salty for the Chiefs hence "cost a lot." Considering the Chiefs are going to have to pay out the butt to keep their own. I'm not sure what's going to be left.

The offense overall needs an injection of some veteran presence, especially at receiver. The problem is that the FA class is weak. Other tham Maclin, there is a lot of youth at the position and let's assume Avant is done. There is talent in the draft, but I'm not sure we want to bring it along during a contending window. Our O-line is young as well, which bodes well for the future, but in the meantime the offense needs to make gains this offseason with added depth and weapons.
The draft should be dedicated to defense. There are some long-in-the-tooth vets on D who will be moving on shortly, so its time to replenish there and add some speed and physicality.
