Brady takes jab at Peyton Manning in email

This is probably part of the reason he doesn't want his text messages out there.

Quote:
Tom Brady jabs at Peyton Manning in private emails

By Henry McKenna @McKennAnalysis
Boston.com Staff | 08.05.15 | 1:02 PM

Tom Brady is supposedly competitive about everything. Apparently, he’s even competitive about the length of his career when compared to his NFL rival Peyton Manning.

The Patriots quarterback jabbed at Manning in his private email correspondence, revealed in the NFLPA lawsuit to appeal Brady’s four-game suspension for his role in Deflategate. Brady was emailing with a childhood friend Kevin Brady, who brought up a Grantland article comparing the two quarterbacks and outlining Manning’s decline. Brady wrote that his career will last at least five years longer than Manning’s. Manning is 39, Brady is 38.

Zinger.

And Brady’s not blind to the differences in the two quarterbacks’ careers. In another correspondence with blogger Jay Flannelly, Flannelly wrote to Brady about those major differences, saying Manning “needs everything to be perfect.” Brady didn’t seem to disagree, providing a typical Patriot-esque response.

Perhaps Brady buys into the Brady-Manning rivalry as much as we do.

and for the record, I definitely think Tom Brady knew what was going on. I have common sense. Those deflator texts exist. I'm sorry, but that's a smoking gun. The phone didn't help (he destroyed it the day he testified under oath).

Now, can this be proved? I have no idea. Lance Armstrong never tested positive for anything, either.

Was the NFL inept? Well, that certainly seems to be an ongoing trend during the Goodell administration.

But come on. The dude referred to himself as "the deflator", referenced the 16 PSI footballs during the Jets game, disappeared with the balls into the restroom before the AFC Championship Game after the footballs were cleared to play, and Brady destroyed his phone the very day he testified under oath.

So uh, yeah. Please.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck ... YOU CAN'T PROVE IT'S A DUCK! Well, according to Patriots fans logic.

The destruction of the phone thing is irrelevant. The NFL was never getting that phone. Brady's team had told them so. The info about the phone was discovered long after the "guilt" had been determined, and the punishment meted out.

Let me pose a different possibility -- you know Brady likes the balls soft. You're the equipment guy. The refs ****ED you a few weeks ago and blew up the balls like balloons. Brady was pissed about it. You therefore take it upon yourself, at some risk, to deflate the balls a bit because the refs ****ed you and you can't take a chance again on Brady being pissed. You never tell Brady about it. You want to keep him happy, so you go over the line, but figure nobody will ever find out.

Is that not AT LEAST AS POSSIBLE as what you suggested? AT LEAST.

And yet Brady is suspended for 4 games, loses $1.8 million and has his reputation destroyed. Really?

Can I ask a completely separate question. Isolate on ONE thing here (which I realize is not a big thing). The NFL literally says that the fact that Brady and Jastrzemski were communicating post AFCCG is proof of a cover up.

Does that make ANY sense to anyone? Even if they were completely innocent, would they not have been communicating to figure out WTF was going on?

It makes no sense to me. Not a bit. POint to the other evidence, sure, but this? WTF?

Maybe. Honestly, I haven't read as much into this as many of you think. I have a hard time seeing why the NFL just wanted to bring in more controversy, especially against their most popular player, but whatever. At this point I am just going to wait and see.

I have a hard time getting past those "deflator" texts. So should everyone else. Those are beyond damning.

None of it makes sense. If the guy hadn't referred to himself as "The Deflator", for reasons he testified wasn't about deflating footballs, the entire thing would be a catastrophic sham.

I agree. "Deflator" looks pretty damning. But when you take into account the math in the Wells Report, which Peter King explained perfectly, and the fact that the NFL had no idea that balls could naturally deflate and that John Harbaugh never tipped off the Colts, or that Chris Mortensen leaked false information, the entire thing becomes more ridiculous by the minute.

The NFL didn't have procedures in place to measure the balls. The gauges used weren't calibrated. The only thing that makes Brady look even the slightest bit guilty is "The Deflator".

This entire "investigation" has been driven by the ego of Roger Goodell.

How do the texts referencing cash and nice size 11 shoes accompanying the needle to deflate the balls work into your scenario?

and Tom testified after those texts were released

so yeah, just because Tom has very good attorney's who coached him on what and what could not be proved during his testimony, means nothing to me

It is hilarious that Brady references the Jets game as to when he became aware of PSI in footballs ...

His testimony was 100% coached. You cannot read those texts and conclude that Brady knew nothing of the balls being deflated. It's just common sense.

This has probably already been said, but I don't see why it's cool to dig through someone's personal emails to find stuff like this that is completely unrelated to the deflategate scandal itself.

I wonder if any of that has to do with the fact that the 49ers considered trading Montana to the Baltimore Colts to draft Elway...? Wish I could find a clip of the snarl.
