Ultimately, it's not about Ayers, but about the contracts given.

Guys like Branch are great values but that doesn't excuse giving out bad contracts, either.

I do.

He received $20 million up front, is a Top Five center and he's only 25. What makes you think that in five years, when the salary cap is beyond $200 million, that Hudson won't receive a paltry $9 million to start at center, with the exception of injury?

Smart teams are fully aware that the cap is rising significantly each year, so backloading contracts won't be an issue.

I would say we are done in free agency unless it's some minimal deals. Need to work on a deal for Houston. We should have 10 picks after the Grubbs deal. Need an ILB and another WR early. After that, OL and CB depth is about all we are lacking.

I'm happy with the signing. Our secondary is staying intact with an upgrade to depth. I wouldn't be shocked if we draft a CB or DE and call it a day on defense.

The contract appears loaded, but I'm sure the structure is appropriate.

Apparently they feel he's a blossoming single high safety.

They know more than myself about it, but I didn't necessarily see that.

So what is your argument then? That Rodney Hudson was worth the money or wasn't? Because you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

The Chiefs have managed to keep one of their top free agents in Kansas City.

The team has agreed to a five-year contract with safety Ron Parker worth $30 million in total money, agent Justin Turner told The Star.

The addition of Parker, who took a free-agent visit to Chicago this week, should help solidify a safety corps that includes Husain Abdullah and recently-signed safety Tyvon Branch.

In 16 games this year, Parker, 27, led the Chiefs with 84 solo tackles and finished second in pass deflections with 12. Both were career highs.

Parker, who made $645,000 last season, accomplished this by serving as the Swiss Army knife of the Chiefs’ secondary, as he flip-flopped between cornerback (four starts) and safety (11 starts).

Though he only had one interception, Parker’s ability to cover a lot of ground and properly diagnose the deep route combinations that tortured the Chiefs in 2013 played a role in their pass defense skyrocketing from 25th to second.

It's not the money, it's who he's spending it on. Do you think people would be pissed if he got Calvin Johnson for $11 million per? That's different than signing Junior Hemingway for $11 million per.

I have no issues with the Maclin contract at all. I thought Grubbs was a sensible trade and was a good fit here, and I loved the Branch signing.

But I don't understand why you have to hate every deal or be an information minister, but most of this board is so ****ing stupid that the above is the only argument they can make.

@adamteicher: Parker had been cut 8 times in NFL. Should be taken more as sign of ability than lack of it. Started to deliver on that promise last year

I'm fine with it. Keep our homegrown. Work on his tackling and keep getting better Parker.

I'd put more credence in your response if it wasn't binaristic homerism wrapped in a facade of rationality. Christ, last week on here you were talking about how the 30 yards per game of Avant and his ability to get open deep (to the tune of 11 yards per reception) showed how Bowe (who hauled in passes for a higher YPC) was obsolete.

If I've turned into Clay then you've become Marcellus, Esquire.
I don't think any of them will see all their $$, that's why I don't bother citing the amount of money in the deal.

Again, there are sensible arguments to be made (Mauga even at the league minimum wouldn't make a lot of sense to me) but crying over $70 million in total contracts and then calling anyone who likes Dorsey's offseason thus far "a ****ing idiot" damn sure isn't that.

The total contract figure doesn't mean a ****ing thing. It doesn't even mean a thing in relation to other contracts. Everything in these deals depends 100% on the structure, you know this and you're still screeching about a meaningless total value number. Hell, the Grubbs terms haven't come out yet and somehow you're complaining about those as well.

You're just looking to bitch. Fine, whatever. You know you're just tossing out bullshit arguments and don't seem to give a damn about it. Have fun with that.
