Report: KC will select Eric Fisher

Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to make former Central Michigan left tackle Eric Fisher the first overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft.

The Chiefs will take Fisher with the first pick, a source with knowledge of the team’s plans told PFT’s Mike Florio.

For Fisher, tonight will culminate a rapid rise for a player who grew up in Michigan and couldn’t even get a Big Ten team to give him a shot. Even during his impressive senior season in 2012, few thought he had the makings of a top overall pick, but after a strong showing at the Senior Bowl, the Scouting Combine and in individual meetings with NFL teams, it became clear that many NFL coaches loved his toughness and potential.

And the Chiefs love Fisher enough to make him the first player called tonight.

And they may well be right, but when you claim that you are an information source, you can't blast out bullshit with facts and maintain credibility. Tabloids break stories too; it doesn't make them reputable, and with all the bullshit that PFT is slinging right now I'm going to maintain some reservation about this claim.

I have no idea what the interest level in the first pick is. I have read several sources that say there is much interest in Oakland's pick. I would think that would indicate there would be teams interested in the first pick. The Chiefs might be sending a signal that they are comfortable with their pick to shake the bushes. If people sense they are desperate to move down the offers will come late and will be weaker. I personally think they stick and pick. Oakland on the other hand needs to fill several holes and may be willing to offer a bargain to gain much needed picks~

The price of the first pick is too high when you know you can get your man at #3

We need to trade with the Jets, they have the #9 and #13 to get into the 2nd round

Fair enough. Will say if it turns out to be wrong my opinion of them as a credible source will pretty much be shot to hell. You don't break something this big 2 hours before the draft and miss on it without it leaving a pretty big stain on your rep.

Seriously, it wouldn't be stupid enough for the Chiefs to consider so don't worry about it.

As much as I'd rather not believe the report, I'm guessing it's most likely correct.
