Changes that need made to turn the season around

Let's get right down to it.

Start Chase Daniel or Aaron Murray....I think the team would rally around either guy.
Run the ball more...get West and Sherman involved a lot more.
Start Conley and get him involved in the weekly gameplan...this should be our counter punch to teams consistently blitzing.
Activate Steven Nelson and have him play the nickel.
Feed the ball to Kelce and Maclin a lot more...especially on third down.
Let Howard have the NT job full time. The DL was stronger when he was playing more reps. At least IMO.
Move Poe to end full time.
Andy needs to hand over play calling duties to Childress, or Pederson.

I know there are lots of other changes that need made, but that should get us started.

Smith is the 32nd rated QB...I'm not seeing a valid reason to worry about benching him. What could happen....KC's back-up is then the worst in the NFL too? Smith has been playing for too long for this to happen...this was supposed to be his opportunity to show he got a raw deal. Year 3 in the same system. He looks lost and timid....17 play 2 minute drill..he doesn't get it...or doesn't care.

I was thinking along the lines of another poster..that Smith's game is just a financial battle of attrition. Avoid mistakes...and avoid being exposed. He got his payday....but he cant be and never was what they are paying him for. He hasn't won a single game for KC...he had two shots against Denver. I'm not going to ignore his drive in week two..or his come from behind BS against the terrible Oakland team. The defense blew those with dropped INTs. He royally ****ed up against the Cardinals last year...and had KC in the Steelers red zone SIX times. He just couldn't finish the deal....he is what he is...and what he always has been...almost good enough when it matters. The two point conversion against GB is another example...

Kudos to him..he juked the system...One thing no one can say about Smith...he's definitely not stupid. $17 million for being worse than both starting rookies...nicely played.

This is not a bad OL its an average OL. Its way better than GBs was. Alex has plenty of time he just wastes it.

Until we get a QB that's not a pussy, this team isn't going anywhere.

What the **** happened to the Alex Smith from after the bye in 2013? The first half of 2012? The playoff games against the Saints and Colts?

I think Reid tried to fix him, and he wasn't fixable.

The result is total loss of confidence and regression.

I totally agree. I think Andy looked at Alex's career and was like "if I can get this guy to throw deep more often, I might have another McNabb"

Since day 1, the coaching staff has tried to help Alex "get his balls back" but it seems that's never going to happen.

If you were in Andy's shoes, what would you do with the QB position?

Alex realized he was a closet homosexual, had an affair with the stalker Sandy Cheeks, and now we all suffer.

Let me preface my answer by saying that I am not in the camp that believes that we absolutely have to draft a QB in the first round, or the first 3 rounds.

I also like Aaron Murray as a project QB that might have more potential than his 5th round status would suggest.

That said, I would bench Smith and start Daniel.

I was one of those in the offseason that believed that we were wasting a roster spot with Daniel.

However, watching his preseason, I saw real growth from his previous preseasons, and his starts against the Chargers.

He looked to have full command of this offense, and played with confidence and aggressiveness, stretching the field, standing in the pocket and delivering strikes against pressure.

I think we need to find out if that play translates to the regular season against first team defenses for more than a series before we let him walk in free agency after the season.

I think Murray is still a season away.

Then you are in agreement with my six-point plan.

How good and pleasant it is for genius to dwell together in unity.

Of course, If I were Reid, I would not be utilizing Maclin the way he is.

He wants Maclin to be that guy that runs the deep routes to stretch the field.

I would run more of the short routes with Maclin.

Slants, curls, comebacks, digs.

Let Smith get him the ball where he is comfortable throwing it, giving Maclin opportunities to make yac plays.

I'd let Wilson and Conley share the stretch the field opportunities.

This is what I expected Reid to do, which I believed was the reason tat Smith might actually have a good season.
