Saw Dontari Poe at Wal-Mart last night

Shopping right next to me in the bread aisle. When I got home my wife asked why I didn't request a photo/selfie with him. I said I'm too old for that, besides public figures deserve privacy. She disagreed, saying they like attention.

CP, settle that argument for us.

Tend to agree with this, adding only that sometimes, like when Hosmer and the Royals went out looking to hang with the fans after games, that is a moment to get all the photos and such that you want.

My buddy saw him at the Apple Store last week and had a good, short conversation with him. He said "**** Denver". Your wife is right as long as you don't act like a fanboy.

He came to Omaha back in the late 80's and my wife (girlfriend at the time) was working giftwrap at Borshiems, a high end store in Omaha. He showed up and ended up taking a picture with all the people in the department. She said he was a really nice guy, funny and personable.

My daughter met Trent Green when he was on his way from Miami to KC, he must have had to return home before the trade. He was really nice to her, took a picture and signed an autograph. She was in High School, but I think girls can get away with that more than dudes. Anyway, said he was really nice and talked to her and her friend on the plane, then ran into him again at baggage claim and that's where she got the picture. Pretty cool.

EJ Holub shoed warpaint at the horse boarding ranch I lived next to back in the 60's. I used to shoot the shit with him when was there. He was a part-time blacksmith. (Back when players had off-season jobs)

My mom, back in the day, bowled on the same team with Dave Hill and his wife.

I used to go over to Richard Sutcliff's house and shoot baskets. (We used to call him Bitchard Butcliff).

I knew Brad Budde when he was a kid although he was just a lot younger than me.

I met Tory and Ole' Gus...And the Romper Room chick.

I could go on but it just gets too stupid.

You should have said hey, acted like you were going to run towards him, then stopped, jumped and tossed a loaf of bread at him, then high fived with him and walked off. But only if he made the catch

Yes! We got a 100-post thread about seeing Dontari Poe buying bread in Walmart. That seems like a notable accomplishment to me.

Holub and Hill were Chiefs. Brad's dad, Ed was then later Brad was too.

Sutcliff was a baseball player - White Sox, I think.

Torey, ole Gus and the romper room chick were not Chiefs.

Out here in the toolies, we have no choice but to shop at Walmart for a lot of things, but if you like it fresh, bread is not one of them.

You may be right, I bet he had a sharpie tucked behind his ear!

Guys like Poe always half expect to be recognized walking around KC, and depending on his mood he may want to interact. If I spoke to him it would be on the topic of his TD pass.
