Just Tuesday there was an article by Bernie discussing how the Cards are being way more agressive at the plate this season.

Cleveland must have read it and decided to stop throwing strikes for the most part. Cards got bailed out by MVP today.

Today was a good example of the value of plate discipline, IMO.

Wacha lasted all of five innings, even though the Indians offense wasn't tagging him. Part of that was due to stupid **** Tim Timmons, but it illustrates an important, if tautological, point--starters are better than relievers, which is why they are starters. Get them out of the game ASAP. As soon as we got to their pen, we struck. That's not an accident.

That's why I'd much rather have guys that work and grind out ABs, then hitters who think that just putting the ball in play as soon as possible can yield the best results. The stress of making the pitcher work is incredibly important.

That was the thing - the Cards were just getting themselves out swinging at absolute crap.

These were pitches that were leaving Bauer/Kluber's hands out of the strike zone. It wasn't like those sharp breakers that look like strikes then dive out of the zone. These were scooped sliders that never had a chance but by God, Heyward/Molina/Everyone had decided they were going to swing come hell or high water.

They all look like pure guess hitters right now and the Indians decided to just throw everything high and wide.

It was absolutely hideous.

Pretty lucky to get out of there with a series win Though.

Also, it appears Marco and Garcia are shitting themselves in rehab stints so we are probably going to have to go find some pitching.

Don't overreact to a rehab start or two. Marco looked great in ST, and he showed a decent arsenal down the stretch last year. Give him time to get his legs under him and he can help the club and reduce the workload on Wacha and Martinez.

Mozeliak said precisely this. He's not going to panic, and we shouldn't either.

Yep, they need to regress to the mean. Take a few pitches. Make them come back in the strike zone more.

WTF is Adams still doing in the 4 hole? He's like 4-30. It's not like he was bashing the ball and he will work out the slump. He's a rally killer.

Can we not find someone better than Kozma to fill in?

And last one........Harbosky sucks big time as an announcer. It's beyond cliche. What the hell does he bring to the broadcast?

I LOVED Matt Carpenter coming up with 1 on with scrabble pitching. I was 50/50 on him at least tying the game.

Replacing Holliday with Kozma in the three hole made me almost piss my pants with laughter. Of course, if Ned Yost did it Kozma would probably go 4-5 with six RBI and 10 total bases.

That's alright, as long as you never let go of the two World Series against them.

Perhaps you should remind them of the throatboarding we gave them after "Tigers in 3."

So, Tulo is now apparently available. We don't currently have a need at short with Johnny and salary wise I don't know how or if it would fit.

But just bouncing an idea out there, but could he play 1st?
