Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

If he threw the ball 32 times a game rather than 25 per game, he wouldn't be a game manager.

We've seen that before. Chiefs had a 49er type defense in the 90's, with some passable and "efficient" QBs. Good enough to win a couple of divisions and get into the playoffs. Once there, an "efficient" QB wasn't enough to get us to the Super Bowl. It's the very same damn reason your own coach benched Alex for the very type of dynamic and unproven QB we want to draft.

Alex is the best option for you at this moment. He may not be this franchise QB you want but do you really feel Geno is? I say maybe, but again if he's not you are set back for years.

Alex is your best option. Again his contract dictates that you can cut him next year if you want. If he doesn't work out you lose a 2nd rounder. If he does you may just be a decent team.
10 years? What the **** are you talking about? With the new CBA, you draft someone, give him three years and if he doesn't pan out, draft a new one. At least the kid has an upside, and you have a chance to develop him. Smith has already hit his ceiling. he's as good as he'll ever be, and it ain't good enough. Not by a large margin.

I remember this game and Smith deserved every bit of the animosity he received. He was downright pitiful. Looked a lot like Cassel did this year; zero confidence, completely lost in his reads and pulled the string on all of his throws.

This is the Smith I expect in KC within 12-20 games.

Since that game...a span of 34 games,

Alex has about 46TDs, 13 INTs and a 97 QB rating. That was actually where the turnaround started.

You may not believe it, but he ain'tthat guy anymore.

BTW...he threw 3 TDs in the second half of that game and almost won it.

Just stop the trolling already, What part of we dont want a game manager do you not get. Most of us have been through 30 years of game managers.

Enough is enough.

If only we won 2 more games so that we wouldn't have to worry about stupid things like "draft value" and we could just draft a QB in the first round instead of being afraid to "reach."
