Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)
A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.
A few quick ground rules:

Sorry thought we could talk about things that already happened in the show. I didnt think that them knowing the language would really be a spoiler since it was known from the beginning of negotiations in the books. But I will error on the safe side from now on so I don't ruin any of martins great story telling

Very good episode. It's amazing how many fascinating, well-written characters there truly are in this series and they keep adding new ones nearly every week. It's sometimes hard to keep track of them all (and the creators have the difficult choice of leaving out main ones at times like this week with Daenerys). I believe to this point only Tyrion and Cersei have been shown in all 22, I wonder if that will keep up (as they seemingly have less responsibility this season).
The Bran Stark scenes generally aren't the most intriguing part of these GoT episodes, but the addition of that Jojen Reed character (who seems to relate with Bran in a way nobody else can) certainly made them more interesting today. That will likely make them better going forward even as they make the long trek to the Wall. Theon's back...and somehow in an even worse spot than he was last season. Seems fitting with all the bullshit he pulled in S2. Arya seems to have a habit into running into people she knows. Last season it was Tywin, this season it's the Hound. Except this time he knows her and she won't be evading detection. Also glad to see Jaime Lannister back too, definitely one of my favorites from the first two seasons. He surprisingly lost that fight with Brienne pretty easily....granted he had his hands tied, looked pretty weak and was out of energy. Might be difficult to fight their way out of the situation they now find themselves in. |

I thought the Tyrell women stole this episode. The Grandma was hysterical, and she doesn't seem like someone to cross. But Margary in that last scene with Joffrey was just soooo smooth and manipulative. Best scene of the episode IMO. Love her! Her character on the show is way better than portrayed in the books.
Jaime was definitely weak and chained, but Brienne is also a bad-ass (remember she won a Melee against all of Renly's knights, including Loras Tyrell, to win a spot on Renly's kingsguard in the first place). Jaime at full strength and with no restraints would probably take her as he is one of the best, but in his current condition he had no shot. Theon! All of these Theon scenes will be new for book readers. Should be good...but tough to watch! I also liked the scene with Catelyn talking about Jon Snow as a baby and how she prayed for him to die, then prayed for him to live, then couldn't bring herself to follow through and love him. She never expressed a shred of remorse for her treatment of Jon Snow in the books which is one of the reasons I never liked her character much, so this was an interesting addition that makes her a little more sympathetic. |

I was very interested to see how they'd portray Theon's torture since it wasn't really detailed in the books. Was cool to see it on the screen.
Lady Olenna was flawless.
