Shooting at Arrowhead- Chiefs player commits suicide
No details yet. Just came across on the news.
edit: Sources say the player is Jovan Belcher. Police have yet to confirm. An unnamed Kansas City Chiefs player has committed suicide at the team facility and authorities are on the scene, the police confirmed to ESPN on Saturday morning. Local reports say police are operating with the belief the player fatally shot his girlfriend at a house before driving to Arrowhead Stadium and killing himself at around 8 a.m local time. The Associated Press reported the player's age to be 25. "We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation." There were no other injuries at the team facility, police said. The Chiefs (1-10) were preparing to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The NFL has told the Panthers to travel as planned to Kansas City on Saturday, the Charlotte Observer has reported, citing interim general manager Brandon Beane. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/86...-team-facility Last edited by MoreLemonPledge; 12-01-2012 at 10:32 AM.. |

So now the KC Star has on its news story that Crennel and Pioli were on the scene as well as other Chiefs staff. I can't believe that the NFL is going to go ahead with the game, but even then, I couldn't possibly imagine Crennel coaching tomorrow or anyone else who saw the incident.

At first I read that Pioli and Crennel were the "coaches" who witnessed the suicide in a comments section on KCTV5. I didn't believe it at first. That's just insane. I have to put aside all my disdain for Pioli and Crennel as professionals right now, because I can't imagine what they're going through as human beings at this time.

If the NFL isn't wanting to move the game, then I'd send the players and coaches home and tell them not to come in till Wednesday Let the NFL figure out the next step.

I don't think this at all but lambasting this guy without any facts is pretty cold hearted. But then again, most people do not understand mental illness.

I won't get into this, as I feel too strongly about it. And really, my moot opinion equals exactly dick in the grand scheme of things. |

I wouldn't find it hard to believe some of the players would want to play tomorrow. But the coaching staff, I don't know... I don't know how their head could possibly be in the game tomorrow. You talk about competitive fairness and all that... I think that's a huge question mark. These guys spent four years developing the guy and to them it's probably like watching your kid throw his life away. And probably guys like Hali and DJ when too... every play they're going to look over and realize Belcher isn't there.

What do you mean? I'm just saying, hypothetically, if that happened at my job, we'd have to go back to work pretty soon after. Perhaps not the day AFTER exactly, but our business can't afford to be shut down for too long.
