Batman sequel 'Rises' again

LOS ANGELES - THE next Batman sequel has a title: The Dark Knight Rises. Distributor Warner Bros. confirmed the name for director Christopher Nolan's third adventure about the DC Comics vigilante hero, which follows Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008.

The Dark Knight Rises is due in theaters July 20, 2012. Bucking Hollywood's current wave of 3-D movies, Nolan is not planning to shoot the film in 3-D.

Warner Bros had agreed with Nolan's argument that the sequel should resist the 3-D craze, the director told the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex blog, which first reported the title.

Nolan would not reveal what villain might appear in The Dark Knight Rises, but he said it would not be the Riddler, one of the key bad guys in the comics and past film and TV Batman tales.

Earlier this year, Nolan said he would not resurrect the Joker, the cackling villain played by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Ledger won the supporting-actor Academy Award for the role, a year after he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. -- AP

Given that this movie doesn't have quite as wide of a range of appeal as Avengers, will it pass it in money for its opening weekend compared to that of Avengers? Anyone have a guess?

Probably will be close, but I doubt it will pass it.

And, luckily I will not be traveling all weekend, so I'll get to take this movie in on Sunday.

Sunday matinee for me. **** dealing with opening-night bullshit, especially for a film like this or Avengers.

I think it will pass opening attendance but not box office due to not having 3d

33 reviews on rottentomatoes and sitting at 94% im not reading anything review wise at all. avoiding the internet friday and twitter totally. Just reading the rotten scale. Saw Rottentomatoes twitter going apeshit over people going apeshit over a negative review on the movie LOL

Some are taking it real personal and Rotten had to tell people to chill just cause a review was negative.

40 person capacity, full bar and leather recliners.

And it's not a kid-friendly film. It's bleak and dark. It will do very well, but it won't get near "Avengers" or even "TDK" (which had a more popular villian and the Dead Actor Phenomena going for it).

So my daughter and I have seen all of Nolan's Batman movies in the theater together. She's leaving to go to L.A. with a friend and her family for two weeks. Guess what day she leaves?
