Tony Romo rumor

Gotta ask what do you guys think? There are strong rumors we are interested. I would love it if we got AJ MCCaron from Bengals.

What do you guys think

Romo isn't that good. Sure he puts up nice stats but when clutch time comes he sucks. He seems to make the worst plays at the worst times. One of the most overrated QBs out there. Plus he is always injured.

If we were desperate at QB then yeah it'd be worth the risk but Alex isn't as bad as people on here make him out to be. We'll be fine without Romo. No need to take that risk he isn't that good.

While I am not in the Romo wagon either, you're delusional about Smith. He's every bit of a bum as most of us think.

Alex Smith is good for what he does. Protect the ball, don't turn it over, play it safe. Don't try to win the game but don't lose it either. He would be perfect on the 2000 Ravens or the 1985 Chicago Bears. He is the modern day version of Jim McMahon or Trent Dilfer.

He does well at contributing to helping his team win by limiting his mistakes but can never take over a game and win it by himself. We all know what these type of QBs do? They limit the success of a franchise.

Exactly my point since last November. He is not nearly good enough.

Alex can get you into the playoffs, but when you get there he's never going to be able to beat Big Ben, Brady, Wilson, Rodgers, Carr, Brees, Ryan, and Cam back-to-back-to-back. A healthy Romo could.

Alex Smith isn't a bum he is average. A good game manager.

If he was as bad as you guys make him out to be then Dorsey would cut him. You guys act like he is by far the worst QB in the NFL and the reason for all the Chiefs losses which is ridiculous.

Smith is certainly not the worst QB in the league. IMO, he is very average QB. Here's what I've come to learn about Smith being tagged a "Game Manager." The game manager moniker indicates that the one doing the managing won't lose games. Smith will lose them by not making enough plays that are right there, to be made, in order to win them. He'll also make many games much closer than they ought to be for the same reason.

If your goal is playoffs and super bowl - Smith is not the guy

IF your goal is some great regular season games, BBQ, tailgating, noise records, irrelevancy outside of the midwest... Smith is damn sure your guy.

4 years of pretty much nothing but a Hoyer playoff win...

If we were talking about a 32 year old Romo, I'd be all in. But we're talking about a 37 year old (by the time camp starts) with an assortment of severe injuries that's only played in 5, that's right, FIVE games over the last 2 years. Not exactly where I'd want to invest my money if I were Dorsey.

As fans, it's difficult to look at things with an eye for business.

I would like to see these guys retire as Chiefs, but reality says that we should have moved on a year or two ago, depending on the player.

I am a big Charles fan, but the smart move here would be to release him.

Bad comparison. Tony Romo is not Peyton Manning. Peyton is one of the top QBs of all-time. Romo is just a good QB. Peyton had 3 great years in Denver. If you think we will get 3 great years out of Romo you are crazy.

Each player and their injuries are unique. Peyton Manning had a different type of injury. Romo has had a bunch of injuries. Sure there is a chance Romo comes back and plays every game next season but it's highly unlikely and therefore not worth the risk for the Chiefs because we already have an average game managing QB who we can win with.

Ironically Peyton won a SB in Denver while playing the worst football of his NFL career by far so lets not act like the Broncos won the SB because of him they won in spite of him if anything.

That said Peyton was obviously a great signing for Denver but I don't think Romo would be for us. It's just too risky and frankly even if he stay'd healthy the guy would probably choke in the playoffs anyway.
