Zack Snyder to direct next Superman film
http://heatvision.hollywoodreporter....medium=twitter
Nolan and Zack Snyder, definitely an interesting team. There are already rumors now that Zod is going to be the villain. I have to say I'm excited that it "appears" they aren't going to go totally out of left field and do something stupid and out of character for Superman. |

Everybody I know IRL who saw the movie liked it. Perhaps both of our sample sizes are too small.

I haven't seen it yet but based on his description, I'll likely be disappointed as well because I thought The Avengers was complete and utter crap, yet it broke box office records. |

I do. On the other hand I hate the superman character. Not only did I enjoy the film but they found a way to make me care about a character I absolutely can't stand. I'm sure purists and comix-nerds were ticked about a number of key changes to the character that made him less of a boy scout cheeseball and more of a real person. It made me like the character more. Just like every other human this character is flawed - not the polished and squeaky clean guy we're used to. Yeah, there were still moments that were unrealistic (even for comic standards) but I thought it was very well done overall. I thought the acting was good. No real cheesy moments. I loved the way they used spread out flashbacks instead of the usual slow and boring first 30 to 45 minutes to build a backstory. I would say it's the 2nd best comix flick I've seen (bested only by the last two Batman movies.) Keep in mind this is from a guy who hates the character and was looking for any reason to step on Superman's cape...

Good gawd
Just saw it, and what a piece of crap. Seemed like I was watching a boring remake of Independence Day... Without the comedy. |

I really enjoyed Ed Norton's turn as the Incredible Hulk and I'm really hoping for a version starring Mark Ruffalo, because IMO, he's the perfect Bruce Banner. I enjoyed Thor and have watched it on several occasions and am looking forward to the sequel. I like Chris Evans and the cast of Captain America but the movie was slow and somewhat dull to me. The Dark Knight Trilogy will be difficult to "beat" because of the pure cinematic scope, cast and brilliant direction by Chris Nolan. But it doesn't surprise me that Man of Steel is seen as a flawed movie by so many (with a very low Rotten Tomatoes score to boot) because Zach Snyder is a hack. I've never liked his vision, his direction or his storytelling. |

saw it last week
Yeah it was decent, but a pretty standard summer action movie Pretty simplistic movie with action sequence leading to another action sequence. Not a cant miss by any means but pretty entertaining Overall I give it a C+ But I was not expecting much from the guy who directed Watchmen, so I wasnt dissapointed |

So, my complaints about The Avengers, Iron Man 2, etc. don't stem from the fact that they may have strayed from, garbled or just completely ignored the source material, it comes from the film making process in and of itself. Direction, acting, lighting, dialog, screenplay, etc. and so on. IMO, that's where Iron Man 2 and The Avengers really fail. Both films are just so unconvincing to me. |
