I agree. A lot of fishy in that story..

And I've seen it plenty, and I've always just asked if it's OK to sit in another seat. I've never had a problem with it.

Well, keep in mind that United also tried to smear David Dao by saying he was belligerent or aggressive. So I'd be curious to hear what other passengers on that flight saw. But the story looks pretty flimsy and looks like 2 people taking advantage of United at their worst. I hate United, but if their story holds, that couple sucks.

This story, on the other hand, seems like it has potential to blow up:
http://fortune.com/2017/04/15/united...ay-disability/
Guy claims he had a TSA approved mobility device that United refused at the gate, and that United is now harassing him about leaving his "dangerous" segway behind.

Even though there are a few gaming the situation, it at least has raised the scrutiny around all the different ways United has dicked people over with horrendous service.

Absolutely. If they were moving up, screw them. Open the door in flight and throw them out. They're the reason why I can't do EP any more.

This is second time I've read that the men were law enforcement. First was from United's chief executive. But on here, I keep hearing they weren't.

Congress Getting Involved Now
In a bi-partisan fashion too.

They want to know more about why and how Chicago Department of Aviation Police dragged Kentucky doctor David Dao off the Chicago-to-Louisville flight on April 9 after the airline involuntarily bumped him and three other passengers to accommodate airline employees....

United announced late last week that it would stop the practice of involuntarily removing passengers from planes once they'd boarded, as was the case on Flight 3411. It also said it would no longer call on law enforcement to remove passengers.

Other airlines have decided to increase their compensation offers for such passengers. Delta Air Lines will allow supervisors to offer as much as $9,950, well above the $1,350 required by federal law.

That's because reporters are idiots. They are not even called "police" by their employer.

Agreed. Sounds like someone thought it might be worth taking advantage of the situation to get a free upgrade.

The reporter does use the word "police." What explains United's Chief Executive calling them Law Enforcement ?

Ya' know, unlurking, everywhere I look they are still considered some kind of "law enforcement", even "police" as they are hired by local govt.

Doesn't seem like a distinction that has any substance that is meaningful or different.

Quote:
Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that while the individual turf of the two law enforcement agency’s is defined — Chicago Police Officers handle the areas before security screening and Department of Aviation police handle secure areas, such as terminals and gates — each will assist the other when necessary.

http://chicago.suntimes.com/politics...curity-report/

Quote:
The aviation police officers work for the Chicago Department of Aviation and are all certified law enforcement officers in the state of Illinois. Many also work in suburban police departments or are military veterans.

United had upped its game. Now it's killing giant rabbits.

Quote:
SCANDAL-hit United Airlines is facing a new PR disaster — after a valuable giant rabbit died mysteriously on one of its planes.

Three-foot Simon, destined to be the world’s biggest bunny, died in the cargo section of a Boeing 767 after flying out of Heathrow to a new celebrity owner in the US...

...Simon, a continental giant rabbit, was 10 months old. He was on track to out-grow 4ft 4in dad Darius, the world’s biggest rabbit.
