I've not read the GOT books. It holds no special place in my heart etc. I wasn't comparing them in any way but for the "quality" comparison. I could use Boardwalk too. Way better quality series than True Blood also.

GOT is very good but let's not get dramatic here, it is another very good HBO series that also has some fan boys from the books.
I love all of those shows and they are in the same ballpark. I guess I should have said current series. I just started reading the books after the series started so I was no fan boy coming in.

True Blood is good but it's in the middle tier of the movie channels series.

It has only been released in web format at this point. So there's not a good source to get a quality rip from. Once the episode actually airs this weekend, you'll find a bunch of top quality rips out there.

The show has completely fallen off a cliff. They're trying to do too many storylines, and the main plot (Eric/Sookie) is getting swamped by all the lame subplots. It's just too much garbage. Tommy and Hoyt's mom, the witches, Bill as king, Sam and his new girl (as hot as she is...), Hoyt and Jessica, Jason and Hotshot, the list goes on and on and on. The episode last night was like an hour of paint drying with a few cool moments strewn about.

And it doesn't help that it's on right after Boardwalk Empire (which I didn't watch last year, so it's new to me). I don't know who decided that was good programming, but watching True Blood after that's like trying to drink Keystone Light after savoring a couple pints of Guinness.

It's meh. I was hoping the storylines with Jessica and Jason would be better....but they aren't.

I am pretty sure the ratings are a big reason its like that. You may not think its good ratings, but the high ups at HBO are smiling from ear to ear baby!

I wasn't aware I'd said anything about ratings. All I've said is that the show has gotten very difficult to watch. It just isn't very good. Which doesn't mean people (including me) are going to stop watching. At least not yet.

I mean, seriously, if people had stopped watching when it started to slide, it never would have made it out of the second season, when they butchered the maenad storyline.

Anyway, good ratings do not mean good show any more than bad show means bad ratings. Right now it's a (very) bad show with (very) good ratings.
