***** OFFICIAL 2015 KANSAS FOOTBALL THREAD *****

Let's go...

Rob Likens (Offensive Coordinator)

"Rob has been a major player in some of the best offenses in the history of college football,” Beaty said of his new OC, who enjoyed great success at Louisiana Tech and helped lead Cal's 2013 offense to several school records and put the 2014 version in the Top 10 nationally. “I have always been a fan of Rob's ability to develop players who produce at a high level. Rob has learned from some of the best in the country and is as fine of an offensive mind as I have been around. Rob is a man of integrity and character and I cannot wait for our team to be able to benefit from his wisdom."

Zach Yenser (Offensive Line - Run Game Coordinator)

A source with knowledge of the rest of the Kansas University football coaching staff told The Journal-World on Tuesday night that Cal assistant coach Zach Yenser would join Beaty's staff as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Cal coach Sonny Dykes later confirmed the news via a statement given to Cal's Rivals.com site.

Clint Bowen (Defensive Coordinator)

Je'Ney Jackson (Strength and Conditioning)

"Je'Ney brings a great familiarity with the University of Kansas as well as a wealth of experience in the strength and conditioning world," Beaty said. "His ability to develop and relate to our players will be a large part of our initiative moving forward. He is widely regarded as one of the top coordinators in this field. He is without a doubt, my most important hire and we are honored to have him here."

Kevin Kane (Linebackers)

"I always admired Kevin as a player, but I am even more impressed with his ability to teach and develop young players. He is a tireless recruiter and he is as well thought of in the Kansas City community as anyone I know. He will bring an energy and toughness to our team that we will all benefit from. It has been fun watching his linebackers play over the years and I'm glad that he is now coaching our guys.”

Calvin Thibodeaux (Defensive Line)

"His players exhibit responsibility, toughness and passion and we are looking forward to him bringing those elements to KU. His ability as a coach is only surpassed by his upstanding character and integrity as a man."

Klint Kubiak (Wide Receivers)

"He is as hard of a worker as I have ever seen in our profession. His ability to connect with his players in the NFL and at Texas A&M has been impressive to watch. Our wide receivers will benefit greatly from his experience."

Gene Wier (Director of High School Relations)

"Not only is he fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a Jayhawk, but he will certainly add a much-needed element to our staff. His long-standing relationships with the great coaches of the state will allow us to better understand and serve our coaches."

David Beaty is learning along with his players. A lot of the decisions he has made this year have been baffling.

Well, there's always next year!

Had our chances, just too many mistakes and failed execution.

People keep saying that but I don't get it. Boykin is perhaps the most overrated player I've ever seen play in college football. He barely escaped KU last year and always sucks when he plays in a big game.

That being said it would have been nice for the seniors to get this win but two more games at home to finish the year and I'm 100% confident this team is going to get one of them.

For the rest of the team the freshmen and sophomore players are really starting to become something. Willis, Sims, Booker, Hartzog, Patrick, and Ben Johnson are all getting tons of reps together and will be a force by the time they're juniors and seniors.

Beaty has a young o-line that's playing great with the exception of center which you know will be a priority this offseason.

On defense it appears that we're getting stronger up the middle. Joe Dineen, Roberts, Olobia, Armstrong, etc are all playing great moving into next year. Goodman and Fish Smithson are the leaders and they're the ones who deserve a victory the most this season to finish their careers are they're going to get it.

And they'll both be playing on Sundays.

It's clear this is Beaty (and the entire staff's) first time round in regards to head coaching.

I think it's compounded with not having the depth that other teams have. Some decisions that seem to be no-brainers aren't the same for him because of who he has on the field. On the other hand I like how he seems to coach most of the time "as if he had" all these great players instead of doing stupid shit like going for it on 4th and inches from your own 10 (like the announcers were suggesting he do.)

The players on the roster don't want to be given the impression that they're outgunned with the coach making dumb moves and taking lots of chances. It's a fine balance as a HC because usually he IS outgunned and HAS TO take lots of chances in order to put his team in a position to win.

Next year with going into the season knowing Willis is number 1 is going to make things much better.

Hopefully Cozart is working out with the WRs because that's where his future is and I think he can be quite good at it.

Ugh that sucked. It was nice to show some fight though.

Oh well. KU football, KSU everything, MU everything and our Chiefs are all bad. The Royals and KU basketball are saving the two-state area again. They're the only two championship caliber teams, bless their hearts.
