How can we improve Chiefs discussion around here?
I've mentioned my disappointment in the quality of discussion in a few threads lately, but figured it's worth a more meta discussion to figure out 1) if I'm alone in this perception and 2) if there's anything that can be done about it.

Back in the old days, I walked 20 miles to school in the snow uphill both ways!

Err...wait. I mean, ChiefsPlanet was THE place where I got my Chiefs news. If an article was worth reading on another site, it was linked here. If there was a tweet with Chiefs news, it was posted here 30 seconds after it hit Twitter. If someone said something worthwhile on the radio, someone would post about it on here. And (with all due respect to those who like megathreads), you could glance at the front page and have a pretty decent idea of what the big news was for the day.

After returning home from the boonies on Sunday morning, however, I honestly had no idea how the game Saturday even went. I ended up visiting Arrowhead Pride and Chiefs Digest just to get a feel for what went down. Am I the weird one for thinking that that sucks?

Anyway, just figured it's worth the discussion. If it turns out that everyone is pretty content the way things are, I'll just bookmark some other resources and move on with life. But if I'm not alone, what can we do to make things better?

I think its the latter. I think if this franchise gave us more to work with you would see more signal and less noise. YES YES I know there is some hope this season, but so many of us RIGHTLY demand to be shown and have it be proven before we go full homer.

I guess what I am saying is I do agree in general about the problem, but I think there's a vast disagreement about the cause of that problem.
I fully admit I might be naive but I really think some GENUINE wins in IMPORTANT games would resolve this.

In general another topic that got touched on that could be a cause (aside from server issues) is competition in terms of facebook and reddit taking users away...

I believe we are one important game away from 'improving' the discussion.....

If we beat Houston, and then we play Denver at home..and that would be such a cool win if we can pull that off!

I've actually mentioned several times that we're going to start doing something about the worst offenders and banning more people from threads if it's obvious trolling/derailment.

And we'll get Mr Plow up to speed once he creates those hockey threads.

I just finished reading this entire thread and am pleasantly surprised and enthused with all the great suggestions and opinions stated herein.

no doubt in my mind that cp has turned the corner and is becoming a more member friendly, respectful community. I'm thrilled with the future of this board!

Just a small suggestion - training camp and preseason games conversations would be better if every positive comment about an UDFA player didn't instantly get shouted down by a bunch of dipshits screaming "Jessie Haynes! Rich Scanlon!".

There is a big difference between Scanlon-level worshiping and discussing whether a long shot player can make a contribution (e.g. Albert Wilson).
