Witcher was just too much for me. Really didn't understand how to create potions and all this and that. Gonna play it on a lower difficulty and beat it at some point.
I can't wait for arkham city. |

Witcher 3 - PS4
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
PS4 Trying to summarize this game via the written word is almost impossible. Fitting in a brief description of everything the game has to offer is a real pain because you have to leave stuff out. However, I'll give it a shot. Stating that The Witcher 3 is a "big game" is like saying Hitler was a "bit pissy" about the Jews. Yes, you get the jyst of the statement but you really have no idea exactly what you're getting into until you finally sit back and take what it has to give. Preparing for this game is a lot like your first experience with anal play. Sure it looks good on paper but what will happen when you finally go balls-deep? Well, I suppose it's all in how you look at it. If you're a first timer, it might be a bit overwhelming. I did discover that relaxing and accepting does help a lot. So take a deep breath, think about baseball and let her fly. (No homo) If you're like me, you've had little or no previous experience with The Witcher games from CD Projekt Red. They're a Polish game company and they're very proud of this game, (with good reason). You play as Geralt (not Gerald) of Rivia. He's a Witcher. Witchers kill monsters for money. These monsters can be things like Griffins, Cyclops, Drowners, (they're blue swamp-things), fat witches, Trolls, etc. the list goes on and on. As a matter of fact, I've counted at least 40 different varieties of monsters. Geralt is in search of his adopted daughter Ciri. She's being pursued by a group of bad-asses called The Wild Hunt. They intend to utilize her for her special powers and take over their world. Ciri has been on the run for years but The Hunt is closing in on her. In comes Geralt of Rivia to save the day. The story is a magnificent concoction of magic, sorcery, swords and deceit. There's debauchery, douchebaggery and decapitations. The game is an open-world RPG. Now stating its open-world is a little relative. There are about 6 different areas, some are huge while others are smaller. Each time you have to travel from one section to another, the game needs a minute or two to load. That's a bit of a drag but you get used to it. Geralt has different "powers" that he utilizes mostly in combat. He can shoot fire, produce a shield, a trap, stun people's/critters minds via telekinesis or uses a telekinetic blast to knock enemies over. As you progress, (like in most RPG's) you can upgrade said powers or you can upgrade the normal shit like fighting skills, vitality etc. As you explore the world you find hundreds of different side quests that help you along the way. For the first time in quite a while in RPG games, these quests aren't a chore. Some of them get a little tiring but the reward is usually worth it. You can loot everything in this game. In the first few hours, I was looting so much just because I was afraid of missing something. You'll find that some areas offer more than others. The enemies you face in this game are all at a certain level, if they're too much for you the game will let you know. Each level has that same property as well. If you're about to start something that's say, a level 22 and you're sitting there at level 10, the game will advise you of your imminent death. The graphics and sound are superb. It's a beautiful game and runs very smoothly. The music and sound effects are perfect. I noticed a few glitches here and there with delays when you'd strike an enemy and other things are happening but the sound effect is gratifying. Combat... Yeah, the only real downfall of this game. I hate spamming the same button over and over but that's what this one is all about. When you're just looking to dispatch an enemy or two and go on with your mission, you hit the same buttons repeatedly. This does get a little old but it's also part of the games charm. When you face tougher enemies, (especially on hard difficulty) you have to utilize potions, magic and weapon enhancements to defeat them and that is a good mechanic. Sometimes you have to guess what you're going up against and you prepare your potions. Guess wrong and you're hosed. In closing... I really enjoyed this game. It's story is beautiful and gripping. Like in other Witcher games, sex is a part of it but each encounter is strictly voluntary. It's nice that they don't shove it down your throat. The game is something to be experienced. If you truly sit down and explore everything and take part in the side missions, you'll spend at least 200 hours playing. The main campaign is around 60 hours. I'm sure you've figured out that it's a very adult game with adult themes. The game deals with sexuality, racism and politics. If you're on the fence about this one, don't be. This is truly a game of the year contender. Final score: 10 out of 10 a perfect game. The combat system and occasional glitch was a little tedious but that's the only drawback. Recent patches make the game better and better. This is one you should seriously look into. It'll blow your mind.

Good review. I feel the same way in just my 8 hours or so of the game. Cool game, but combat is clunky. Shadow of Mordor/AC/Arkham set the bar extremely high for adventure games of this style.

Kinda what I expected to hear. Lots of bullshit potion making and shitty combat. If I'm gonna spend 100 hours plus playing a game, the combat can't suck. And to be honest, shadow of mordor and the batman games are pretty goddamn repetitive too. I'd like to see some mass effect type combat in an open world game. Maybe that'll happen. Looking forward to Fallout 4.
I couldn't make it through either of the first two Witcher games, and though they solved some of my gripes about the first two, I'm gonna hold off on this one. Maybe pick it up during a steam blowout. |

Ended up finishing the single player campaign of Far Cry 4 this weekend. Looked up the different endings online and it looks like there were 3.
Spoiler!

Yep, hidden ending. It's a good game, I loved it. The storyline isn't quite as good as 3 but it was good enough to keep me interested. Very pretty game too.

I'm playing Farcry 4 the past couple weeks or so. Haven't finished the story yet. The overall plot is much less than the sum of it's parts however. They do great characters.

Just beat Arkahm Knight. Very weird story but enjoyable. Had a couple "piss yourself" parts but I enjoyed it.
What I did not enjoy was how the damn batmobile is shoved down your throat every other mission. If I wanted to play battle-tanks I would've bought it instead. |
