Brett Veach’s approach: “**** it, why not?”

CJ Spiller
Cam Erving
Reggie Ragland
Darrelle Revis

See the pattern? Veach signs previously highly touted prospects or players, for cheap, to see what they can do for us.

He isn’t afraid to kick them to the curb, as we saw with Spiller multiple times, or demote them, as we saw with Erving. He’s also not afraid to promote them, as we’ve seen with Ragland.

As long as we aren’t too loyal to these guys and take appropriate action based on their performance (and not on potential), I’m fine with it.

Good point. I think also we will keep Ware if he isn't wared out from being injured all season. It is a one two punch but I think Hunt is better the more carries he gets.

Yes, he is but Hunt isn't playing every single down. We were signing scrubs like Spiller and Akeem Hunt just to shore up the depth chart. Hunt, Ware, and West are a fine group of backs.

I'd give Hunt the large majority of snaps personally, especially late in games. Defenses struggle to tackle that guy after a long 3 quarters.

Ware should get some work, and West could get use a few snaps, but nothing too crazy.

So far so good.

Plus he was able to **** another team in a QB trade.

When, in their history, has KC ever done that?...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

This is actually extremely far from true.

Veach has a philosophy and a plan. He's targeted players that he's scouted heavily but the Chiefs were unable to draft.

He's not giving up huge contracts or draft capital for these players.

He's not saying "**** it, why not?".

His philosophy is clearly "This guy can fill a role on the team for a very small price".

I really hope they don't trade Ware. Insurance, help keep Hunt fresh, power back, and I'd imagine he would fill in for Sherman in case of an injury. Don't see Ware going anyware.

Yeah, don't see how they can move Ware. He'll be a good 1 2 punch with Hunt.

And I think Sherman is a must sign back as a free agent. He's a tough dude that plays special teams and is a big team guy. I think you need some of those guys and while it will probably appear to be an overpay, it's worth it.

Saw the idea of trying to trade for Treadwell from the Vikings since we seemed so interested in him and he's been lost in the shuffle.

I don't think we need any more receivers.

Chris Conley's hops are about to suddenly get taken advantage of with Mahomie throwing him jump balls. Watch.

Hypothetically, if its reasonable in terms of cost why not?

Albert Wilson is already your slot guy. You have Robinson and Conley competing for the #2 job this offseason.

I don't think you want to logjam the position, nor do you want to trade other resources to do so.

We're not that desperate for wide receivers anymore.

This team ABSOLUTELY has to find a #2 TE, though, because Harris and Charles are hot garbage. And with Kelce's injury history, I want a guy who can step in there and beat a linebacker on a drag without missing a beat. It will be very important for Mahomes, because when he breaks the pocket he needs that short option freelancing. I don't want him forcing picks deep or taking hits because short-range targets are covered.

I disagree, but that's fine. I won't be upset if our WR core stays as is, but there is definite room for improvement.
