Your Grade on the CHIEFS 2017 Draft

After 3 days, the 2017 NFL Draft is history.

What is your grade and opinion of how the Chiefs did?

Predictions?

Dorsey was proactive rather than reactive this year; he traded for what he wanted when he wanted it. And that is what gives me an enormous amount of faith in this draft class even if I'm not personally satisfied.

He gets an A.

What would have made you personally satisfied about this draft ?

As I mentioned in another thread, even if some people think they gave up too much or got the wrong guy, any long time Chiefs fan has to at least appreciate the move.
I agree with Dorsey that we didn't have to give a King's Ransom because we will probably finish pretty strong this year which means our first rounder of 18 will be between 25-32. Big deal

It's an A+ for me based off of the first 3 picks alone

Making the perfectly timed trade to get your potential franchise QB, another 2nd round interior DL with tremendous upside as a pass rusher, and a starting caliber RB? What more could you ask for there?

The other picks were solid too and I think Eligwe has a small chance to have a day 1 impact as a starter.

I wouldn't trade our GM for anybody

I can't give this draft a grade.

I score it high based on the fact they did what I've wanted for years....making a move for who they think is a franchise QB. I applaud that even if it doesn't work out.

I don't know enormity th about most of the other picks to do more than hope they're good.

Tanoh could be a game changer on special teams.

3 blocked kicks in college and with the NFL FG currently at 33 yards, he might win a game for the Chiefs.

Also, I thoroughly disagree with the notion that Dorsey didn't draft any "impact players". He got two last year (3 if you count Ehinger and personally, I do), Peters and Morse in 2015 (not to mention DJA's contribution on Special Teams) and so on.

At the end of the season, we'll look back and see that there were a couple of guys that stepped up in 2017 and made a difference.

Since you asked. I feel like there was a lot of value left on the table. I'd have wanted:

Wormley instead of Tanoh.

Hunts fine I like him.

Elder Corn instead of Chesson.

Bucky Hodges instead of Eligwe.

And then trade a 6th or something from next year to move up a few spots to grab Qualls.

Just what I wanted but I don't care much; I trust Dorsey and the host of scouts he has working for him more than myself.

Exactly. It's silly to try to predict that nobody in an entire draft class will have an impact, especially one of Dorsey's.

To counter, the Chiefs needed a 5 tech and a receiver. Wilson, DAT and Robinson are garbage. It's about time Dorsey steps up and drafts some real talent for, presumably, Mahomes.

Eligwe is a need pick.

4% body fat with a psycho upside is exciting with Tanoh.

Wormley's just a guy. He's inconsistent and is near his ceiling.

It's the same thing every year on CP: "I HATE that pick!".

Then, it's "Mitch Morse is AWESOME! Chris Jones is AWESOME! Marcus Peters is AWESOME!" "Dee Ford is kicking ass!" and on and on and on and on.

I remember telling one of my friends that the Morse pick was the worst Dorsey had made at that point of his tenure. I told myself I'd always give him the benefit of the doubt after seeing how that played out. I think some people need humility. The man is clearly in another stratosphere then us armchair GM's.

I'm a fan of Tonah but I don't see him being anything more than a rotational/situational pass rusher as a rookie, and that's a hopeful evaluation. For all we know he's going to struggle to adapt to NFL level competition and get pushed around like a sled for the first year or two, kind of like Eric Fisher. That being said, I expect more than that from him because he seems to have more natural power to him. Still, I don't think there's a chance that he is the next Chris Jones in terms of impact as a rookie.

As far as raw project QBs go, Mahomes is pretty much the best that you could have hoped for in this draft. It's just a shame that they had to trade a 3rd and a 1st in order to move up and get him, losing out on a top 10 talent guy like Reuben Foster who would have been there at 27 due to his size and shoulder concerns.

Chesson won't be doing much at all year 1, you can put that down in stone.

I also don't expect Eligwe or McQuay to do anything beyond special teams, and that's if they could even make the final 53.

C, pretty neutral, because we really don't know how any of these guys will pan out.
Man thats a crazy negative take... Hunt, Chesson and Elegwe will all contribute this year

Dorsey drafts the right way, they're all physical mutants in some way... and two years from now they will help form the foundation of this club

Definitely A + for finally drafting a QB in the first and having the balls to trade up 17 spots and next years 1st. That is giant elephant nads on Dorsey's part. Also like the RB I have a feeling that dude is gonna shine. The rest I have no idea where they will fall. Hell most cant even pronounce the names but I trust in Dorsey and this coaching staff.
