****OFFICIAL Chiefs Injury Update Thread****

We're getting to a crucial part of the season, and right now it feels like the most important thing to keep track of is the health of a handful of key guys. When Maclin comes back he'll be able to attract enough attention to make Kelce and Hill even more effective, and when Ford comes back, well, the pass rush could become literally unstoppable. Then there's Poe's nagging back spasms, Howard's hip, and Alex Smith's severe allergic reaction to throwing the ball downfield.

Starting this thread to have a centralized place for updates, speculation, and wbf's! Have fun, folks!!!

CURRENT UPDATES:

Justin Houston is PRACTICING today, and Andy Reid thinks he'll be ready to go on Sunday!

Phillip Gaines is OUT for Sunday... whatever!

STAY TUNED FOR OFFICIAL DESIGNATIONS!!!

What keeps tickling my brain is the thought of Jamaal returning for week 17/the playoffs.

He's basically on a full year and a half rest, and his most recent surgeries were minimally invasive meniscus adjustments. He had 2 because you would rarely do both knees at the same time.

On his limited touches earlier this year, he bust a 16 yarder and I was like, uhhhh ohhhh. He's baaaaaack. (He wasn't).

But, if he can come back and give us a month long stretch, defenses will have to honor his presence along with the rest of our weapons.

Damn, yeah! At the very least, he'd be the greatest decoy of all time.

So with the safety sack by Houston can we do the same play with Dee Ford playing on the left side? Would that be a good way to get Ford, Hali and Houston all on the field at the same time? I just want to watch those guys wreak havoc on Ryan and all pencil neck* QBs.

Resting one of them on most plays (mostly Hali) might also increase their effectiveness.

If this team can a) win the division and get a bye, b) get Maclin, Poe, Ford, Nelson, Howard back and healthy, c) dodge injuries in the playoffs (which never happens for us) - I think they'd be marginal SB favorites. I like our chances even in a rematch at Foxboro. And the NFC sux this year.

Sunday's game should be a good preview if they really get Maclin and Ford back. If they come out strong and win fairly easily - I'm going to start getting my hopes up.

If Dallas continues to win, they'll be the preemptive Super Bowl favorite, big time. If they stumble and Seattle gets in, Seattle would be the favorite.

I have a hard time believing that the networks or Vegas would see any team from the AFC as favorites, especially the Chiefs.

I'm just not sold on the cowboy defense.

However, their offense is so damn good. If Seattle can get healthy, they can give them a game I think.

I think the Falcons are a tough matchup for the Cowboys as well.
