Here's a cold brew pitcher from another (off) brand that is cheaper and larger. I haven't used this so I can't recommend it but it looks like the same process as the Takeya with a larger, cheaper device:

I just use the same coffee I drink daily for a hot cup. I drink hot coffee year-round in the morning. When I am home I drink cold brew for a relaxing afternoon jolt because the energy drinks don't sit well with me. I find it needs a good 24 hours if you like a stronger brew 12 hours is a weak sister to me.
Cameron blue moon is my go to whole bean.

I started with the Kicking Horse one, it is $10 a bag and I am also cheap. It works just fine for me, I’m pretty simple when it comes to coffee, don’t need anything special.

Really any medium or dark roast is good for cold brew.

Why not brew a large pot of coffee, let it cool, put it in a regular water pitcher and toss in the frig?
I've been doing this for a bit. I have a pitcher at home and another at the office. I pound a cup at the office 30 min prior to going to the gym to lighten the gym door. With that all said, why use a specific cold brew thingie? |

And you don’t need the thingy. All you have to do is put the grounds in a pitcher, dump the water in and stick in the fridge for 12 to 24 then pour over a filter. It does take more grounds but it is a super easy process that yields great tasting coffee. |

I prefer cold-brew tea.
I love my hot coffee, but cold coffee to me is like cold eggs. |

So.....if you cold brew, do you drink cold or do you heat it up like normal humans like coffee?

I did some searching and found this: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/r...-coffee-maker/ and this: https://www.foodandwine.com/lifestyl...w-coffee-maker https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Cof...f_=as_li_ss_tl Amazon $42. Was referenced earlier: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1 Takeya $26. I ordered the $42 OXO for the home and the $26 Takeya for the office. I will compare the two and keep you in the loop. I want some sort of easy energy boost for work and prior to the gym. Hard on the "easy" part. I don't want to take pills nor a Monster energy drink (I do drink Monster every morning but want something different). Something more natural...ie coffee which has been around forever. Alas, I should hope that I could self motivate mentally and not rely on a chemical simulate, but that has proved futile. Back to the drugs boys!!! I haven't drunk coffee in years. Been doing pills/monster too much. I don't want to wait 15 min to brew a cup of coffee and wait until it cools down enough to drink it. Last edited by Holladay; 06-18-2022 at 09:21 PM.. |
