Getting around MLB.TV local blackouts?
I know some of you have experience with this, so I thought this would be a good place to ask. I'm at a point in my life where I don't want to pay $60+ a month for TV just to watch sports, but Royals games on MLB.TV are blacked out due to location. If I sign up for MLB.TV, is there a way to get around this?

So, I just got an email from MLB.TV that my account has been suspended for "circumventing the blackout rules." How in the world did they figure this out?

I embrace the shit out of it because blackout rules are just ****ing stupid. I live in central Illinois and yesterdays Cubs game was a regional game on MLB tv between them and the Blue Jays, I got dealt the Blue Jays.

I feel like we've been through this. I live 170 miles from the stadium. I'm not going to drive 340 miles round trip every day to watch baseball, let alone drive to road games. The blackout rules are one of the stupidest things in the known universe.

They just don't get it bro. I live in Los Angeles fifteen miles from Dodger stadium but because of this stupid time Warner bullshit I can't watch any games. Home or away. I hacked my PS3 and my phone so I can get watch them. Vin Scully's last year, damn shame.

FSKC is not offered in ANY basic package in Springfield. FSMW is. You have to get the sports pack for all the FS channels to get FSKC.

How that translates to a blackout for the area, I have no clue.

I live a little north of Springfield. We have Roku at our place and we ended up subscribing to Sling TV with the Fox Sports package for $19.99 a month.

It comes with Fox Sports Midwest, not KC obviously, but there are also 5 'alternate' Fox Sports regional channels. Most of the time they are blacked out (sign off) and there is nothing on them, but every now and again they will carry an MLB game on one of the regional networks.

Since setting that up last month, there have been about 15 Royals games played and we have picked up 7 of them. So getting roughly half of the games through Sling TV and paying $19.99 a month for it (and the rest of the channels you get) is not a bad deal for a Royals fan near Springfield that doesn't have access to one of the Big Distributors and doesn't want to pay the fees associated with cable and/or satellite.
