****Official Royals @ Rays Gamethread 8/28****

Happy Ben Zobrist Day! The guy is in their franchise 4, is having a video tribute to him shown before the game and his wife is singing the National Anthem before the game tonight. Anyways, Volquez on the mound tonight.

Montreal would put up a good fight. I think there'd be a lot of goodwill in that direction. The trick with Charlotte is they just put public money into a AAA stadium. Not that much relatively speaking compared to an MLB stadium, but you might have a hard time getting them to turn around and do it again.

Truth. If they agree to build a new stadium, I think Montreal has the next team no questions asked.

Don't waste your challenge on a 50/50 play and you get that run. Basically, don't be a moron.

No. But giving the umps discretion on whether or not to review creates a bit of a conflict of interest.
Apparently, this only applies after the 7th, so it wasn't relevant here though.

They drew fine in the 80's during their glory days. If they had a sustained winner who knows. The strike killed baseball there. That 94 team had a chance to win it all, and after the strike it crushed that team.

Either way, Montreal is way bigger than Portland or Charlotte. Charlotte just tied up public money in a AAA stadium, and Portland lost their AAA team. None of those are slam dunks.

I am conflicted on sending Volquez back out. I probably would go Hoch, Herrera, Davis. Honestly, it should always be like that.

Why have your starters throw 110+ in a meaningless game? Be an adult.
