Let's talk about the Patriots.

I've been encouraged by the fight in this Chiefs team over the past two games. I think we've got what it takes to take it to a Patriots squad that is truly reeling.

I think this is the first truly good opponent we beat since we upset New Orleans a couple years ago.

Let's take a look at the roster.

At QB, Tom Brady is having about as bad of a season as he's had -- just in time for me to have him in fantasy football. Thanks, Tom. Tom's got zero rapport with most of his receivers, and he's just flat missing throws. He looks unfocused, the skill positions around him are generally poor (with the one key exception of Julian Edelman), and they've struggled mightily through three weeks.

I like Shane Vereen, and I do wonder why they don't run him more. As of now it seems they're giving Stevan Ridley most of the carries, and he's got that great combo of size and speed, but his YPA has fallen for three years now, and he's only averaging 3.4/carry this year. Vereen's got a lot more wiggle to him, averaging nearly 5 yards a carry.

At receiver, I have no ****ing idea what's going on. You have the exceptional Julian Edelmen and nobody else. Danny Amendola has two week's worth of zero catches -- is he injured? Google doesn't turn up anything for me. Aaron Dobson, Brandon LaFell, and Kenbrell Thomkins round out the receivers corps. If it wasn't for Edelman, I'd say the Chiefs hands-down have the better WR corps -- which is ****ing saying something. And even with him...

The crown jewel of their passing attack, of course, was supposed to be Gronkowski at TE. Who, all told, has looked slower than Fasano.

Say it with me now: Alex Smith has better weapons at his disposal than Tom Brady does.

I have no idea what the Patriots were doing trading Logan Mankins away, because their OL is terrible. Solder and Vollmer are unremarkable at the tackles, I suppose they're good enough, but their interior of Cannon, Wendell, and Connolly are getting slaughtered this year. Poe, Bailey, Walker and Vickerson should feast.

Their defense is a ton better.

The best player on their team as of today is probably Vance Wilfork, who is going to make our guards look silly. I don't know what the Patriots gameplan on defense is, but it probably involves sending Wilfork screaming at McGlynn or Fulton. The Patriots also have two sneaky-good DTs complimenting him in Sealver Siliga (solid runstopper) and Joe Vellano (athletic 3-tech). Of course, they also have the potentially lethal Dominique Easley, who can play both DT and DE, and has an epic first step. He has struggled to get his footing so far, but he has made a couple plays that provide glimpses into the player he could become.

Chandler Jones is their primary rush threat off the edge, and he's done well so far this year. Rob Ninkovich has been around for what seems like 10 years or so, and is playing the best football of his life under Belichek the past three years -- which is to say, fairly okay passrushing and a couple sacks a month. And the Patriots have zero depth at passrusher.

They have one of the best LB corps in the league: Jamie Collins, Jerod Mayo, and Dont'a Hightower are all 1st and 2nd round picks, one of the only 4-3 teams in the league to actually do that -- which explains why they have zero playmakers. Collins is their finesse, Hightower is their power, and Mayo can do it all in the middle of the field. It will be extremely entertaining seeing Kelce try to matching up with them in his route-running and blocking. It will be a challenge.

Brandon Browner may be out, but the Pats are still stacked with talent at corner. We are going to have to win this game without Dwayne Bowe, as he will almost certainly disappear on Revis Island. Alonzo Dennard and Kyle Arrington are a good duo of backup CBs, and I love the potential of Logan Ryan.

Patrick Chung is terrible, but paired with the excellent Devin McCourty, you've got an alright safety lineup -- albeit with zero depth behind them.

Special teams feature one of the best kickers in the game in Gostowski, a middling punter in Ryan Allen, and the great Julian Edelmen returning punts.

Walter Football:

NEW ENGLAND OFFENSE: What is up with the Patriots? They barely beat the Raiders last week, scoring a mere 16 points against the same defense that couldn't stop Ryan Fitzpatrick or Geno Smith. Tom Brady looked completely lost, his receivers dropped countless passes, and his offensive line couldn't block for him whatsoever.

It's difficult to imagine things changing against a better defense. Unlike the Raiders, the Chiefs have shown the ability to put pressure on opposing passers consistently. They did so against Ryan Tannehill this past Sunday, as Tamba Hali, Justin Houston and Dontari Poe put tons of heat on him. They'll do the same with Brady and his horrific offensive front. They also won't have to worry much about their poor secondary screwing up because it's not like Brady has anyone incredibly dangerous to throw to.

Having said that, the Patriots could have success on the ground. The Chiefs have one of the weaker rush defenses in the NFL, surrendering 5.36 yards per carry to opposing backs. Only the Steelers and Panthers are worse (and the latter doesn't belong there because its figure is screwed by the Sunday night game). Stevan Ridley should be able to compile tons of yardage, assuming he isn't benched for fumbling.

KANSAS CITY OFFENSE: With Jamaal Charles out and Dwayne Bowe barely doing anything offensively, Alex Smith had very little talent around him in Sunday's game at Miami. Yet, Smith did a fantastic job of moving the chains and putting up points against a Dolphin defense that seemed like it was more focused on boarding a plane for London.

The Patriots have no reason to be lethargic in this matchup, especially in the wake of last week's close call and subsequent criticism. Bill Belichick will undoubtedly have a great game plan for the Chiefs. Belichick specializes in taking away one aspect of an opposing offense, and you better believe that he'll be focusing on Kansas City's rushing attack. Whether Charles or Knile Davis starts, Belichick will have a plan in place to erase the Chief running backs.

Alex Smith will have to do everything on his own. That'll be difficult for him with half of the field unavailable, thanks to Darrelle Revis. Smith will still be able to move the chains by rushing for first downs, but maintaining consistent drives could be difficult for him.

RECAP: The public is backing the underdog, which is unusual. It was predictable though, given that they saw the Patriots struggle against the Raiders and the Chiefs destroy the Dolphins. This has created plenty of line value, as mentioned earlier. The Patriots were -6.5 prior to Week 3, yet they're -3.5 now. I wish -3 was available, but I'm still going to back New England. I'm not crazy about it because there are some situational items that favor Kansas City, but the Patriots appear to be the right side.

This is an excellent write up Direck.

I think the Chiefs have a shot at winning this game of they give the same effort like they did the past 2 weeks. The Pats oline sucks we could see a frustrated Tom Brady.

That Titans game chaps my ass. They suck we should have won. Could be 3-1 going to play an imploding 49ers team.

I think BB will scheme to stuff the run. I would love to see the Chiefs come out like they did vs Indy in the playoff game with an uptempo passing offense. Time to feature Kelce.

What's awesome about this thread...both Patriot and KC fans are talking about how bad their teams suck...no one is talking smack.

I don't think anyone knows how this game is going to play out...does Brady get hot? Does KC's pass rush with Arrowhead noise dominate? I have no ****ing idea at this point..

If you don't care about the Chiefs why do you spend so much time on a Chiefs forum? Are you lying or just stupid?

If the Chiefs can generate an offense, it's their game to lose. But this is a good Patriots defense.

If the Chiefs struggle offensively, you're looking at another 13-7 grinder where Brady puts a winning drive together in the 4th quarter that Smith fails to answer.

I really feel with KC's pass rush, and even with the injuries, a defense that doesn't just plain out suck against pass or rush. Compared to what Brady has done against Miami and Oakland; we have a chance from the defensive side.

KC's offense is a wildcard. We've seen a horrible offense on opening day. And in a losing effort; an offense that kept manning off the field against a rebuilt (supposed great D) in Denver, and an offense that scored pretty well against the Miami D that first shocked NE. Still eratic, KC is doing pretty well on offense without a starting RT and line injuries, and of course no JC or DAT.

Special teams haven't been great, is that just the way the ball bounces? Or is it an impact from the other aspects of the game? Does DAT returning help in anyway? Not sure, I'd like to think so, even if only a little bit.

End of the day, being in arrowhead on Monday night with the crowd liquefied up and vying for the record books, I'm thinking that puts the chiefs over the hump.

That all depends on Brady and BB getting out to an early lead and quieting the crowd or if he some how returns to former glories and mounts a comeback.

A good patriot defense against the dolphins Vikings and raiders? Color me skeptical the "old" patriot way didn't break a foot off in any of the collective asses.

Belichik has been able to get by passing up good talent in the draft in favor of slapdicks and letting good talent walk because he had a very good oline and very good offensive coordinator (Mcdouche had Orton leading the NFL in passing in that offense). Belichik took it a step too far letting Mankins go though, Pats offense isn't working because they can't run their stretch plays effectively, which they've lived off of for several years now, so their PA game isn't working. The immobile Brady can't get much done without those 2 things. Playing at home in primetime the Chiefs should win this game easily as long as they don't beat themselves. The 'fade D pounded them for 4 quarters playing on the road - Chiefs D should pound them even worse playing at home.

If you don't want to trust their schedule, trust their talent.

Wilfork. Jones. Collins. Mayo. Hightower. Revis. McCourty.

That is a damn good defense.

You sign a Fn Game manager (Albeit a good one) to big bucks you better let him hand off and manage.

We could seriously whip some ass on the ground this year.

It's all on Andy and whether he can accept the fact that he needs to pop in the Nirvana, And include phrases such as "And I will strike down with great vengeance and furious anger!!" (Ezekial 25:17 doesn't say that BTW) in his pre game speeches.

This is a Throw back team.
To when Arrowhead was loud, You begged em' to throw the ball, but were scared when they did, and we won a shit load of games.

*Don't go buying any SB tix* But it can still be fun.

But they sucked against subpar offenses and still rank "high". I'm just saying we should be able to move the ball equally to the raiders, Vikings or dolphins.

Do you disagree?
